Meet The 2011-2012 National American Miss Pre-Teen Regan Spoltman

Tiffany: How did you get involved in National American Miss?

Regan: I got involved in NAM when I was 5 years old. I received a letter in the mail and I thought it would be fun so my mom entered me into the Ohio state pageant and I placed top 5 my first year. I then came back my second year and won Ohio Princess. YAH!!! I then went on to win NAM Ohio Jr. Pre-Teen and then Pre-Teen and now National American Miss Pre-Teen. This is the only pageant I do! I love NAM and I believe in what it stands for!

Tiffany: How did you prepare for the National Pageant?

Regan: Practice, Practice, Practice! I would say my introduction once a day from the day of my state pageant until nationals so that way I had practiced it so many times. I would also have my Mom and others to ask me all kinds of questions to help me feel confident in my answers for interview. I took advice from those around me who really had a lot of experience in pageantry.

Tiffany: What is the best advice you have ever received?

Regan:To always be yourself and surround yourself with the type of people or friends that you want to be like.

Tiffany:What quote , motto or scripture best describes you?

Regan:My favorite Bible Verse is Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” My favorite quote is one from an unknown author and it says that “A sister is God’s way of showing you he doesn’t want you to walk alone.” I love this because I have 2 younger sisters and they are the most important things in my life. I love them so much!

Tiffany:What are your plans for the future?

Regan: My future plans right now is to become a neonatal nurse because I love babies and helping others. I think this will be a perfect fit for me.

Tiffany:What activities are you involved in?

Regan: I am currently involved with a competitive cheer team, the Gem City Jags. I also cheer for my school, Troy Christian High School.

Tiffany:What do you like to do for fun?

Regan: For fun I enjoy hanging out with my friends and family.

Tiffany:What is one item you can’t live without?

Regan: One item I couldn’t live without would be my cell phone because that is the main way I communicate with my friends outside of school.

Tiffany:Who is your role model?

Regan:My role model is a fellow student of mine named Robbie Dickerson. Robbie has had 4 open heart surgeries since he was a baby and he is a great example of showing faith in God. He never is without a smile on his face and he is the best role model I can think of. He makes me realize that you can overcome anything with a positive attitude.

Tiffany:What is your favorite TV show?

Regan: My favorite TV show is The Next Great Baker because I love being able to watch them make all the fancy cakes…I wish I could do that!:)

Tiffany:What is the biggest misconception about your generation?

Regan: I think the biggest misconception with my generation is thinking that teenagers don’t appreciate anything. My friends and classmates really work hard at helping others and we appreciate so much what our teachers, parents, and family do for us.

Tiffany:What is your most embarrassing moment?

Regan: My most embarrassing moment was one day at school during recess, my friend was kidding around with me and went to pull my pants and the gauchos I had on were loose at the waist and when she tugged on my pants they fell to my ankles! I thought I was going to die. Luckily, I had a long shirt on so no one saw anything!

Tiffany:If you had three wishes what would you wish for?

Regan: If I had three wishes I would wish for health, happiness, and to be a little bit taller J

Tiffany:If you could go anywhere in the world where would you go?

Regan:If I could go anywhere in the world, I would go to the Bahamas. My family and I vacationed there a couple of years ago and we had such a great time! I love the water, the dolphins and the sun!

Tiffany:What is your definition of a NAM girl?

Regan:NAM girl is a girl who is confident, friendly, positive, and a good role model.

Tiffany: If you could be on the cover of any Magazine what would it be?

Regan: I would want to be on the cover of Pageantry magazine as the new Miss America!

Tiffany: If you were stranded on a deserted island what three things could you not live with out?

Regan: I could not live without water, food, and my cell phoneJ.

Tiffany:What is your most prized possession?

Regan: My most prized possession right now is my Kindle Fire because I love to read and I have been traveling a lot so it works our great.

Tiffany:How would your friends describe you?

Regan: My friends would say that I am very loyal and honest. They would also say that I am trustworthy and will help them out in anyway possible.

Tiffany: How are you making a difference in your community?

Regan: I do a lot of community service such as working with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation during their Walk for the Cure, I went to West Virginia for a week long mission trip to help out kids within communities in need with my school. I also have made blankets for the homeless, donated items for the local women’s shelter, volunteered at my local library, assisted living facilities, and the food pantry.

Tiffany:What is your favorite childhood memory?

Regan: My favorite childhood memory is when my all of my family on my dad’s side went to Florida together. We all stayed in a beach house and celebrated my grandparent’s 50th wedding anniversary. This is so special to me because I lost my grandfather this summer and that trip is a great memory of him.

Tiffany:If you could go back in time and be at any historical event what would it be?

Regan: I love the movie, The Help. It is hard for me to imagine that people were treated so differently just because of their color. I would have liked to have been there when everyone got go to the same school regardless of your color.

Tiffany:If you could go back in time and meet one person, who would it be and why?

Regan: If I could go back in time I would go back and meet my great- grandma Ruby. My mom talks about her and I think it would be neat to have been able to have known both of my great grandmothers.

Tiffany:If you could be famous for something, what would you want to be famous for?

Regan: I would want to be famous for helping others. I feel like that is the most important thing you can do in life.

Tiffany:What is your favorite book? And why?

Regan: My favorite book is the Hunger Games series because the genre of the books are a mystery but they are also a love story and I enjoy reading both of those type of books.

Tiffany:Where is your favorite place to shop?

Regan: My favorite place to shop is at Abercrombie, Areopostal, or Hollister.

Tiffany:Who is the most influential person in the world now?

Regan: I would want to say Gabrielle Gifford because she has shown such an amazing strength in her recovery.

Tiffany:Who or what inspires you most?

Regan:God inspires me most because He is one of the biggest influences in my life.

Tiffany:What have you learned about yourself since competing in pageants?

Regan: I have learned that with determination you can reach your dreams. This year was my third year competing at Nationals. The first two times as Princess and Jr. Pre-Teen, I did not place in the top 10 at Nationals. But, I did not give up. I came back each time with the determination and this was my year to not only make top 10 but take home the title.

Tiffany:What is your definition of success ?

Regan:Success to me is setting goals for yourself and reaching those goals that are most important to YOU!

Tiffany:What advice do you have for future NAM girls?

Regan: My advice would be to be yourself no matter what. Also to have confidence in yourself. You are beautiful and there is only one you!

Tiffany:What do you plan to do with your title this year?

Regan:Enjoy every minute of it and to create memories with my sister queens that will last a life time.

Tiffany:Tell me about yourself.

Regan: I am a 13 year old girl from Troy, Ohio. I go to a Christian school called Troy Christian. I am in the 7th grade this year and I love it!:) I have two younger sisters, Riley and Ryann, who mean the world to me. I have 2 dogs, but I am getting a new puppy soon! I am a flyer for my competitive cheer squad. I love to stay up late and watch my favorite shows on TLC and I am small for my age but I am full of love for my family, friends, and God.

Meet the 2010-2011 National American Miss Jr.Teen Kimberly Jester!

Kimberly Jester 2010-2011 National American Miss Jr. Teen

Tiffany: What was your first reaction when you won your national title?
Kimberly:  I was so totally shocked!  I was praying I made Top 10!!  There were so many awesome, incredible girls at nationals this year, so I definitely wasn't expecting it.  To hear my name called was amazing!

Tiffany: How did you prepare for nationals?
Kimberly: I actually try not to over-prepare so that I can still have fun and be natural.  But, I did rehearse my PI a million times, and practiced walking in my heels to be sure they were properly broken in.

Tiffany: How did you get involved in NAM ?
Kimberly:They mailed something to my house when I was 5, and I begged my parents to let me try it out. They were very reluctant!!  But they let me and I've been hooked ever since.

Tiffany: What do you want to be when you grow up?
Kimberly: I would really like to be a food critic, or something having to do with food, because it's my favorite thing in the world.

Tiffany:What to you like to do for fun?
Kimberly: Like most teenagers, I like to hang out with friends and go to movies and to the mall.  And TEXT!  =)

Kimberly's winning reaction
Tiffany:What activities are you involved in?
Kimberly: I am involved in cheerleading, student council, my church's student ministry, and other things.

Tiffany: What is your best quality ?
Kimberly: I think my best quality is my ability to make friends and connect easily with people.  I think you can find common ground with everyone if you listen to them and try to be a true friend.

Tiffany: How would your friends describe you?
Kimberly: My friends would definitely tell you I'm an over-achiever, a perfectionist, and that I like to laugh.  They'd also tell you I'm a "goody-goody."

Kimberly and NAM titleholders at the 2010 National Pageant at Disney Land!
Tiffany:Where is your favorite place to shop?
Kmberly: I like to shop at boutiques, but I also love the bigger, more well-known stores!

Tiffany: Finish this sentence: People would be surprised to know...
Kimberly: That I've broken a bone in my foot, twice!  And both times it was right before cheerleader try-outs!

Tiffany:What is your favorite childhood memory ?
Kimberly: My favorite childhood memory was the first time (of many!) that I went snowboarding.  I loved the snow and enjoyed shredding the mountain!

Tiffany: What is your most embarrassing moment?
Kimberly: One time I was about 6 and I was showing off my mad dance and gymnastic moves while my dad was videotaping me.  Something went horribly wrong!  I tried to do a front rollover, but I bounced too hard and landed on my head!   The thump my head made on the floor could be heard over the music and laughter of my whole family.  This videotape haunts me to this day ....Embarrassing!!!

Kimberly is a member of her Highscool cheerleading squad.

Tiffany: If you could trade places with anyone for a day who would it be?
Kimberly:   It may sound strange, but I'd like to trade places with someone my age growing up in foreign, or even an impoverished nation.  Someone who has none of the things or conveniences I have living in America.   I think in doing so I could get a true sense of what hardships kids all over the world endure daily, and would return to my normal life a more appreciative girl for all the blessings in my life.

Tiffany:If I gave you 1 million dollars what is the first thing you would by?
Kimberly:The first thing I would do wouldn't be to buy anything.  I'd immediately tithe 10% to my church!

Tiffany: What is your favorite quote?
Kimberly: GALATIANS 6: 7-9   "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man sows, that shall he also reap."   I believe this because everything we do will come back to us in some way.  The consequences of our actions, be they good or bad, cannot be avoided.  I cannot understand how so many people sow so little, but want to reap enormously.  I don't think it works that way.

Kimberly with her family at the National Pageant.
Tiffany:What is your all time favorite movie?
Kimberly: I have several, but I would have to say The Notebook.  Gets me every time.

Tiffany: What is your most prized possession?
Kimberly: I don't really have a prized possession, but I have a favorite possession!  It's my stuffed animal, Moose, that I've had since I was 3.  Moose goes EVERYWHERE with me!

Tiffany:What is your favorite book?
Kimberly:I enjoyed the Twilight Series, and blew through them in a matter of days!

Tiffany: Who is your role model ?
Kimberly: Jesus is my ultimate role model.  However, on earth, I admire my parents for always instilling in me good morals, and for the sacrifices they make for our family.

Kimberly The 2010-2011 National American Miss Jr Teen
Tiffany: If you could star on any TV show what would it be?
Kimberly: I would LOVE to star on my own food show, where I get to make my own dishes and then EAT THEM!  =)

Tiffany: What do you hope to accomplish as  The 2010-2011NAM Junior Teen?
Kimberly: I am really looking forward to travelling the country and meeting all the wonderful NAM girls that I know are out there!   I also am hoping to volunteer a lot, and show that our generation can make a difference in the world.

Tiffany:What is the biggest misconception about your generation?
Kimberly: I think one big misconception is that kids my age aren't into anything but themselves, that we are given too much without having to work for it.  I know some really incredible teens, and this statement does not apply to them at all.  Oftentimes we just "work for things" differently than our parents did!

Tiffany: If you had to pick between your cell phone, computer or TV what would you pick?
Kimberly:  Oh my gosh, definitely my cell phone!!  I can do so much on it, including surf the web and watch videos!

Kimberly at the 2011 Miss America Pageant in Las Vegas.
Tiffany: What is the best advice you have ever received?
Kimberly:I think the best advice I ever received was to remain true to my valued and morals and beliefs.  Trust me, this has helped me on the dangerous battleground of high school.

Tiffany: If you could witness any historical event which would you choose ?
Kimberly:  As painful and gut-wrenching as it would be, I would choose to witness the cruxification of my Lord, Jesus Christ.   I still can't fathom what He did for me -- for us -- but that would help.

Tiffany: What is your favorite and least favorite subject in school?
Kimberly: My favorite class is math.  My least favorite is english.  AP English at my high school is horrrrrible!!!!

Tiffany: If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life what would it be?
Kimberly: I'm going to have to go with sushi on this one, because I could eat it all day, every day!

Tiffany:What makes you unique ?
Kimberly: I truly believe EVERYONE is unique, because each of us was created in God's image.  We are all as different and unique as our fingerprints.  Honestly, I don't think I'm more unique than anyone else!

Tiffany:What advice do you have for any girls thinking about entering NAM?
Kimberly: I would tell them to just DO IT!  Once they make the decision to compete, they will never regret it.  The skills they learn, the friendships they make -- it all makes it SO worth the investment and effort!  It's the experience of a lifetime!

Kendyl Kimbler 09-10 National All-American Miss Jr Teen meets Miss America 2010 Caressa Cameron !!!

Hi Everyone! This is Kendyl, your National All American Miss Jr. Teen! One of the best memories so far during my reign Is going to Las Vegas with my sister queens to see the Miss America Pageant. Well, imagine my excitement when I found out that Miss America, Caressa Cameron was coming to my hometown!!! Thanks to a promotion by DSW Shoes, I WAS GOING TO MEET HER live and in person!!!

OK, First Decision...What do you wear to meet Miss America??? 5 outfits later, Mom and I decided on Texas Casual (blue jeans and a nice sweater). Straight hair or curled? Straight, since it was so windy outside. Shoes? Boots that my sister bought at DSW. I will tell her tomorrow that I borrowed them (maybe). So, ready to go fight the TX traffic! I couldn't wait to get there!

My first impression of Miss America was how TINY she was! You know how you always picture celebrities as larger than life? She is beautiful, flawless skin, and the prettiest smile! I found out her first pageant was "Future Little Miss America" when she was 7, she won Miss Virginia on her second try and her favorite part about Texas is the food !!! She loves Tex Mex and of course she LOVES shoes! She gets a new pair from DSW everyday !What did I like the most about Miss America? Caressa is a real, friendly, down to earth, NORMAL person...Just like

NAM GIRLS HIT LAS VEGAS TO WATCH MISS AMERICA !!!

This past Saturday NAM girls from all over the country traveled to Las Vegas to watch Miss America LIVE !! The girls had a BLAST making friendships and hitting up all of the wonderful trade shows !!Check out these AWESOME pictures and get the inside scoop from my NAM correspondent our very own National All-American Miss Teen Shannon Smith!!!
A WORD FROM SHANNON:
This past weekend I had an amazing opportunity to fly to Las Vegas and watch the Miss America pageant LIVE. It was a weekend full of fun, excitement, beautiful gowns, lots of crowns, and new memories with my sister queens. After flying in Friday morning my mom and I hit the mall to do some shopping. Later on in the afternoon I went to the Miss America trade show with the beautiful Kristin Gilbart (National All America Teen 2008-2009) and her lovely mother. We went around to all the vendors trying on some amazing gowns and looking at all the neat accessories. I even walked away with a new Tony Bowls gown for the national photo shoot in a couples week in Houston. To end the evening we did some more touring of the strip and had dinner at Jimmy Buffet’s restaurant, with a boat serving as our dinner table!Saturday all the National Queens got together and had brunch at the Flamingo hotel. It was so much fun to finally get to know all my sister queens and even meet some of them for the first time. The gardens outside the restaurant made for some great photo opportunities. As we walked around finding cool places to take pictures we had fun goofing off together. Afterwards we all headed back to our rooms to get ready for the pageant. When it was time we took our seats in the Planet Hollywood theatre and watch the excitement of the pageant Live. It was so cool to see all the things that take place during commercials. All the gowns were stunning and the talents very impressive. Following the crowning of the New Miss America all the NAM girls, dressed in red

with our crowns and banners, met at the front steps for a huge group photo. We then walked over to the Bellagio and watch the water show. After all the craziness of the day’s events, it was nice to just hang out, have dinner and walk the mall with Sarah (NAM Jr. Teen) and Kendyl (All America Jr. Teen) and our moms.

My last day there was just a relaxing one, getting in a little bit more touring and even meeting the winners and 1st runner ups of the Amazing Race. The weekend all together was a success and I can’t wait till the

National Photo Shoot till I can see me sister queens again. :)
