FanFilmFriday - Pingu's THE THING

Well, enough stuff mostly known in the US for a change.
Time to check out stuff on the other side of the horizon.

Fans of awesome Swiss stop motion (or rather "claymotion") children show Pingu made this pretty awesome remake of the horror movie The Thing.

Oh man, so nostalgic.
And pretty amazing work from the fans there!

Even if you never heard of this "Pingu", it still is a pretty amazing work. (and what's not to get? "stop motion penguins remaking the story from the thing")

Movie NEWS! The Thing (2011)

And it's finally out!
The trailer for the upcoming prequel to John Carpenter's classic.
According to the studios:

"The producers convinced Universal Studios to allow them to create a prequel to John Carpenter's The Thing instead of a remake, as they felt Carpenter's film was already perfect, so making a remake would be like "painting a mustache on the Mona Lisa". However, the prequel still has the title of the original film, because they couldn't think of a subtitle (for example, "The Thing: Begins") that sounded good. See more » "

Simply called as well "The Thing", Matthijs van Heijningen Jr.' movie will hit theaters on Oct. 14.
It aims to conserves the style, the tone and the settings of the original. (the story taking place in the 80s therefore)

Here's the trailer:

Neat! Much better than what I feared!
