#FanFilm Friday - Aperture: Lab Ratt

For today, here's a pretty fantastic Portal fanfilm, like there's so many out there.

This one being pretty fun - more so than the more "fanfic" ones - being actually an adaptation of the official Portal comic book Portal 2: Lab Rat.

It follows the story of the schizophrenic invisible protagonist of the first game, Doug Rattmann.
It starts before Portal 1, runs alongside that same game and then ends up a lil' before Portal 2.

Doug Rattman was an Aperture employee. He survived when GLaDOS took over the facility but slowly went insane. When GLaDOS made a list of test subjects, Rattman moved Chell to the #1 spot to be tested first because he had read her file and had a hunch about her....

And here's a link to the online version of the comic book.
My only complaint with all these fanfilms is how serious and moody they all are, when the game's so full of humor....

#FanFilm Friday - VOLTRON: The End

For today's FanFilm Friday post, here's something pretty fun!

It's a short Voltron fanfilm. Directed by Alex Albrecht and it starts none other than Timothy Omundson (aka Carlton Lassiter from Psych!!).
"When a man regains consciousness in a Voltron battle lion after an "accident" he has to decide does he live a few more minutes or try to tell the world what happened... the end is only the beginning."
Check this out:

The only sad thing is that it's only 4 minutes and already looks this badass and professional (and we won't ever be getting more - apart if Hollywood want to someday screw this up with a Michael Bay-like adaptation...).
-sigh-

#FanFilm Friday - Paper Prometheus trailer

Some good ol' fashioned creativity to kick off the day!~

Here's a recreation of Ridley Scott's Prometheus trailer with paper dolls!

I dunno for you but I found this way creepier and more frightening than the actual movie!
Bringing it closer to Alien's horror atmosphere.

#Parody - "Happy Birthday Joel"

Here's a pretty great parody of Prometheus' own "Happy Birthday David" featuring here Community's Joel McHale instead!

Yeah, it's also an ad for something he's gonna be hosting on E!

#FanFilm Friday - Don Cheadle is Captain Planet

Let's start the day with an epic adaptation beyond words!

Captain Planet: The Movie! Starring none other than "War Machine" Don Cheadle as the eco-friendly hero....
(and also Gillian Jacobs from Community!)

He seems to be having fun playing it like a crazy "Iron Man"-like character (those blasts!!).
"Don Cheadle is obviously the best person to play Captain Planet in the movie version of the popular cartoon, hopefully they make his character a nicer guy."

#FanFilm Friday - Lost with Tusken Raiders

Here's something completely different for today!
A lil' short film called:
Lost with Tusken Raiders starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost!!
After getting lost while filming Paul, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost must rely on their wits to survive. Their dry, British wits.
It was directed by Andy Signore from Break Originals and written by Ian Weinreich & Andy Signore.
Check it out!

Those two!
They make anything watchable and fun~

#FanFilm Friday - Batgirl: Spoiled (Teaser)

DC might be ignoring Stephanie Brown - ex-Batgirl, but that won't stop the fans from keeping the character alive and kickin'!

One of the most intriguing fanfilm projects I've seen lately is this upcoming Batgirl: Spoiled short film!

You can keep an eye on this BatgirlTheWebSeries youtube channel because things might quickly start up over there soon.

The idea is to give Steph her due, in the form of a lil' non-profit webseries featuring her adventures as the 3rd Batgirl.

And here's a little teaser trailer:

This is looking pretty nice, and even some nice TV quality-like, much better than the beginning season of Smallville already! How come it's not even official?!
See that, DC/Warner, this is the kind of stuff we want!

Also, bring back STEPH!!

#FanFilm Friday - "20th anniversary"

For today's #FanFilm Friday post, here's something very special.
Easily the best 3D/CGi animation I've ever seen, and it's not even an actual movie!

From fans to fans.

Enjoy:

Gorgeous animation and very video!
Loved the pacing, and fun atmosphere specially.

This hommage to Dave Stevens was realized by "John Banana".
It was presented for last year's 20th anniversary off The Rocketeer. (about a ~year ago more or less)

This video's been getting a lot of praise from professional and/or fans of Dave.
"I laughed, I cried. Dave would have loved this wonderful hommage that totally captures the warmth, action and humor of his creation. Thank you for making this!"
William Stout - williamstout.com/
Dave would have been impressed. It should be a televison series!
Paul De Meo - Rocketeer movie co-writer & co-screenwriter
I was fairly close with Dave (we worked together on a number of projects) and I know he would have dug this...
Scott Shaw
This is some professional-quality animation. I doubt an actual series/movie would hold a candle to this!

#FanFilm Friday - "The Art of the Instakill"

Here's a video for the day!

Have you ever wondered how a fight between Halo, Mass Effect, Battlefield, Modern Warfare and many more would look like?
Excuse me, but was that the sound of your eyebrow, rising up?
Then I guess you will enjoy this following video.

Check this out, while several various random characters stab each other in the guts!

A bunch of different shooters duck it out, so we can finally answer this question: Who's the best at "instakills"?
(oh, and warning! several stabbing involved in the above video!)

#FanFilm Friday - Titanic SUPER 3D

Here's a pretty fun parody of all these movies getting new re-releases in 3D these days...

"Titanic is back, digitally upgraded with new 3D motion feel technology."

Pretty epic XD

#Ad - Mega64's Cold Fear adverts

Speaking of Cold Fear, the game had quite a fun advertising campaign.
They might haven been heard a lot nor spread out that much like the viral marketing they were intended to be.

But it was quite a fun campaign nonetheless.

Want to know to what kind of lengths Ubi went to advertise the game? They even officially enlisted the help of Mega64 to produce Cold Fear-themed videos!

(videos after the jump, I'll leave you with one of those creepy viral marketing ads I mentioned in my review)

The problem with these kind of videos is that they work too well.
You see people only remember "dem funny parodies by Mega64" and forget the random game that was behind it.

Anyways, here they are, enjoy!

Pretty random. And quite fun :P

Sort of officially approved parodies mocking the game/plot! You don't see those often!~

FanFilmFriday: Maxwell Lord's Advil Commerical

Here's yet another great short from the guys at Blinky Productions.
(I should make a Blinky-tag at this point, honestly!)

This one's also featuring everyone's favorite superhero, Blue Beetle!
...in...
a commercial for Maxwell Lord's Advil!

Man... lots of Infinite Crisis allusions!
Too soon?
(wait...hasn't it been like over a decade now??)

Tenacious D - To Be The Best

Dudes! The D is back!

One of my all time favorite music bands is back, that's right the Tenacious D are back, finally!
Jack Black has taken a break from his lackbuster comedies to join Kyle Gass once more.

And they announced it all through this pretty epic video below...

Hell Yeah!!

Mark your calendars! Rize of the Fenix will be released on May 15!
And it will be glorious!~

Sketch - Porn Rental

Here's a pretty epic and random sketch featuring noneother than Michael C Hall (from Dexter) and Ben Schwartz (Parks and Recreation, Undercovers) !

Check it out, it's pretty funny!

Written by Ben Schwartz and directed by Sam Reich.

Man, Ben Schwartz is hilarious! XD

Jimmy Kimmel Live - Movie: The Movie

Dat Jimmy Kimmel... gotta love his parodies.

He did it. The impossible. The ultimate film.

For the Oscars' night, Kimmel did the final movie, the sum of all these years of movies success, the parody of 'em all.

Check it out, it like nothing else, it's...

MOVIE: The Movie!

So many cameos! So many memes! So many actors! So many genres!
(evn Guilermo makes an appearance! :P)

This probably took a long time to do, I can imagine him borrowing a little time from all his previous guest over this past year.

Epic beyond words!

FanFilmFriday - The Lobo Paramilitary Christmas Special

For this week, to stay on the subject, I'd like to post this lil' fanfilm of Lobo simply called...
The Lobo Paramilitary Christmas Special!

This is the closest we'll ever get of a live action Lobo movie to be honest.

Made in 2002 as an American Film Institute's studies exercise, it was directed by Scott Leberecht.
Lobo was portrayed here by a cetain Andrew Bryniarski.
(with Tom Gibis as the Easter Bunny and Michael V. Allen as Santa Claus)

It was actually based on a stand alone one shot comic of the same name.

The plot::
The Easter Bunny is fed up with the attention Santa Claus receives over Christmas so he hires Lobo, the Main Man to kill him.

With a simple budget of barely 2'400 $USD, it originally premiered at the AFI in May 2002.
And it looks fantastic!
I mean look at that, this is as good as Lobo will ever look live.
I'm sure Hollywood would totally scr*w Lobo if they got to him in an eventual real movie or a TV show (like Smallville or something).

Check it out, and if you already knew it, watch it back again:

So badass!
Fraggin' awesome!

FanFilmFriday - Batman's Night Out

You wanna see the Dark Knight? The real brooding crazy ol' batty Bats?

(oh man... I laughed so hard while watching this....)

WHERE IS HE?!?

MY PARENTS ARE DEAAAAAAAD!!

So epic!!
That's one helluva imrpovement over the Batman movies costumes :P
It's the little things that made it so awesome!

From the guys at The Sean Ward Show on their youtube channel.

Seinfeld 2027

Here's a lil' parody of Seinfeld by Frank Caliendo for the live comedy show MAD TV.

Called simply "Seinfeld 2027", enjoy this parody...

Spot-on impersonations!
They might not look the part, but the sound how-so-much like the real cast!

Frank loved this segment so much, he even got to do it over again in his short lived comedy skits show, Frank TV.

It only lasted 15 episodes, but some fun little segments were made in that short time like the above remake.

Obviously this was a lot more fun if you know the show.
They did a great job at recreating the Seinfeld-atmosphere. (perhaps the jokes leave a bit to be desired, to the actual Seinfeld-esque level, even so...)

Frank was a great fan of the show, and does also a great Kramer voice.

FanFilmFriday: The Death and Return of Superman

Here's a "fanfilm" for the day!

Remember when Man of Steel died and returned in the '90s?
Well Max Landis here certainly does. (though he's waaaay too young to have actually followed the whole thing originally now that I think about it..)
Who's Max Landis? He's the son of the legendary comedy and horror movie master John Landis.

Back then, the epic Death and Return of Superman story was such a success it launched a boom in comics that marked the generations to come, changed the whole comic book industry regarding mega-events and tie-ins, was adapted into a videogame..
Warner even tried to make a movie out of all this..but only that lame lackbuster Steel was made - with no connections to Supes whatsoever due to all the delays and cancellation of the other related movies. (a Superboy, Cyborg and Eradicator movies were also planned to accompany a Death and Return of Superman)

Anyway, Max did this whole summary and critique of the whole Death and Return saga, featuring various talents such as Mandy Moore as Lois Lane, Elijah Wood as Hank Henshaw, Simon Pegg as John Landis, etc...

Enjoy this ~17 minutes video!

Epic!
Funny enough, accurate and entertaining!

Max Landis adds:

The original rant was 45 minutes long, so of course we had to cut a bunch of stuff out for time, and because it was just too stupid. Like for instance the part where Pa Kent dies of a heart attack and literally GOES TO HEAVEN. AND SEES SUPERMAN.
If I saw this video, I might nerd rage out so hard. But luckily I made it, so I'm pretty happy. Really I'd hope people just are with me, and happy that Guy Gardner and Bloodwynd get to be in a movie.
Guy Gardner, haha!
Gotta love seeing all these characters portrayed, even if briefly!

Kids these days, always complaining about everything..
Even more so on the interwebz :P

Anyways, besides that, the video was actually sort of fun!
I actually like Death and Return of.. but managed to enjoy this lil' video nonetheless.

Ad - "Matthew's Day Off"

Now here's the kind of commercial I love to see produced.

This is a little very fun ad for the Honda CR-V that aired in the US at this year's Super Bowl.
What's fun about it is that it closely follows, mimics, parodies and pays tribute to John Hughes' 80s cult classic film Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

It just happens to be one of my all-time favorite movies, ever.

Matthew Broderick reprises the lead role, this time as himself.

Fans of the original enjoy. Kids under their 20s, I'm guessing you won't be getting any of this...oh well, never mind. (it's not like I get your things either, so..)

This actually a very nice video.
The Honda is even barely the focus of this video.

I'd rather much see little homage to past stuff like this little harmless video than any of these half-assed Hollywood sequels only riding on nostalgia (Die Hard 4? an eventual Ghostbusters 3? no thanks! go make some new original ideas~)
