#Marvel NEWS! Marvel Nation
Looks like Disney wanna try getting on Warner Bros' animated territory.
Because they just launched their very ownDC Nation Marvel Universe block.
Here's a promo:
On the program:
It already on Disney XD. It will be Marvel's own dedicated cartoon programming block.
It's basically a little segment on the channel where Ultimate Spider-Man will run alongside Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Oh and by the fall/next year, AEMH will be "changed" as they said to (hum... canceled and replaced by) Avengers Assemble - a less plot-oriented more kid friendly take on the Avengers, with more influence from the movies carried over, an humor closer to USM (think Scott Pilgrim on high sugar doses) and a different roster of characters. Cap, Thor and Iron Man will be kept around. But Black Panther, Antman and Wasp replaced by Black Widow (on the team like in the movie) and Falcon. For, some reason...?
Oh, and of course, it will also include new animated shorts and live-action interstitials. Obviously. In case you forgot this was their very ownDC Nation Marvel Universe block.
Edit: I might have sounded pretty negative above, but I'm actually all for it! I like the idea. Now, just make those shorts as funny and well animated as this, and you can sign me in!

Various names Shawn's been introducing Gus with through various episiodes!
My favorite's shown pretty early in this video - when Gus isn't used to being actually introduced by Lassiter (Timothy Omundson) with his real name :P

#Ad - "Every Wednesday at 10, someone dies"
Here's a pretty fun ad for the TV series Psych I found on youtube.
Since I'm completely in a Psych mood lately, this will have to do until Season 7 begins this fall~
And that's a pretty fun video ad, those who don't know might be interested to know this is a pretty fun and entertaining show. A comedy/detective series, sort of like Monk or Castle.
With a fun twist (or main character here runs a Psych-detective agency), great characterization and original plots (and lots of references from the 80s/90s).

#TV News! The "Mysterious Cities of Gold" Sequel Series
Not long I posted the opening theme from the Japanese-French cartoon The Mysterious Cities of Gold (aka Les Mystérieuses Cités d'Or). (also known in English speaking countries as Esteban or Child of the Sun)
Coincidently, it has just been announced that this old anime from the 1982 is getting a sequel nowadays!
For some strange reason, dubbed "Season 2", it looks like this:
Woah! Looks like one of those great modern adventure point & click games developed in Europe these last couple years.
Which is kinda strange for a cartoon.
But I like the cartoony CGi graphics. Not sure I'll actually follow this, since I didn't like much the original show to begin with, but nice nonetheless.
So this 2nd season will air ~30 years after the original show? Hope they'll make this continuation which will pick up directly after the last of the original episodes newcomers friendly enough.
This will premiere in France on June 23.

#OpeningTheme - #Psych
Time to post another opening intro from one of my favorite shows I failed to cover on the blog until now it seems.
Psych is a comedy/detective series, much in the same style of Monk (which both aired on the same channel).
It's about a fake-psychic, Shaun, and his BFF Gus who hang out with the police and help them resolve various murders in Santa Barbara. Kinda like a lighter Castle.
I just love the show, the characters are great and have lots of fun interactions with one another and the stories are pretty fun. I started to watch the show from and because of a Twin Peaks tribute episode.
Here's my two favorite opening montages, from Season 2 and Season 3 of the show. You'll get the feel and tone of the series just from these clips alone!
Whaaaat?

#TV News! #Arrow official trailer
Did I forget to post this?
Anyway, after the first clip, CW just released an official trailer for the upcoming Green Arrow series simply titled Arrow.
And it looks great so far!!
Fantastic!
I'm so pumped out for this!
I really can't wait for the pilot.
I'm okay with a more Batman Begins-ysh take on Ollie, heck that's not that far from the 80s Mike Grell run on the book.
Hopefully this last for more than a seaon...

#BestOf Spider-Man TV series opening themes
Here's a pretty fun video to start off the day.
It's a compilations of all the intros of all Spider-man TV shows, ever! Even up to date as of now. (includes the on-going Ultimate Spider-man cartoon too!)
Nice, very nice!
It covers Spidey-shows from 1967 to 2012, that is 10 series worth of Spider-Man content!
For years, as much as I liked the 90s Animated Series, I've been asking to myself why Peter looked so weird, so off, so un-Peter Parker. I mean, big square jaws, giant athletic torso, strange hairstyle unlike any of his comic counterparts (nothing like the comic book!Peter at the time at least), and "old school" clothing style.
But thanks to this video, I finally get it!
The 90s cartoon Peter is designed to look closely like the 70s live Peter Parker! Just that a look above again! See?

#TV News! First look at #Arrow
The CW has just released the first footage from the upcoming all-new
Check this out.
This new series will introduce us to a more Batman Begins-ysh take on Oliver Queen. And despite being on the same channel, it won't tie-in with Smallville.
Here’s the official pitch from the network's press release:
After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. When he returns home to Starling City, his devoted mother Moira, much-beloved sister Thea, and best friend Tommy welcome him home, but they sense Oliver has been changed by his ordeal on the island. While Oliver hides the truth about the man he’s become, he desperately wants to make amends for the actions he took as the boy he was. Most particularly, he seeks reconciliation with his former girlfriend, Laurel Lance. As Oliver reconnects with those closest to him, he secretly creates the persona of Arrow - a vigilante - to right the wrongs of his family, fight the ills of society, and restore Starling City to its former glory. By day, Oliver plays the role of a wealthy, carefree and careless philanderer he used to be - flanked by his devoted chauffeur/bodyguard, John Diggle - while carefully concealing the secret identity he turns to under cover of darkness. However, Laurel’s father, Detective Quentin Lance, is determined to arrest the vigilante operating in his city. Meanwhile, Oliver’s own mother, Moira, knows much more about the deadly shipwreck than she has let on - and is more ruthless than he could ever imagine. So apparently, Star City was renamed Starling City, because....?
(these sort of little generic changes always annoy me, because what's their purpose? what does it bring up to the table? nothing? a new trademarked name to copyright?)
Anyways, here's the official first look at the beginning of the show:
Looking interesting so far.
I'll definitively check up the show's start.
Though this guy doesn't strike me as "Oliver Queen" much.
The arrow-carving seems to be ported straight outta the pages of GA: Year One.
Hope it doesn't end up as "emo" (for lack of a better word) and filled with teenage-angst as Smallville... (a Superman/Clark Kent that barely ever smiled? really? and more drama than a soap opera...)
Now, I can't wait for Syfy's own Booster Gold to show up to! Been loving Eureka lately, and I guess with that show ending, Booster will take its place/slot on the shedule.

What did you do this weekend?!
Hey gang, long time since I did one of these, heh?!
I originally planned on posting this yesterday, but stuff like work and life got in the way :P
This time, let's talk movies, TV and fighting games! (again!)
So this past week was the season finale of Fringe.
God, I love that show!
The last bunch of episodes were all pretty intriguing, the on-going plot crazier each time.
I just love the way it totally embraces its scifi roots. I mean, Fringe's basically an odd to science fiction, with big budget. You find the usual tropes, themes and clichés (time travel, mutants, mad scientists, alternate world, future distopia, science gone wrong, etc.), only with a "Bad Robot" touch, great acting and seriousness.
The epic climatic finale left me wanting for some more, though most major arcs seem to be closed for now...
Fox decided the next 5th and finale season will be shortened to a mere ~13 episodes (screw Fox network!!)
I also watched back Total Recall this weekend.
It had been quite some time since I last saw that one.
I love Scharzie!
Back then they knew how to make a good action blockbuster movie, no cheap CGi everywhere and lame lackluster storylines.
And, hey, it was a less racist time in a way, having big "foreign" guys at the head of all these big budget action flicks, Schwarzennegger, Van Damme, Stallone.. just look at the way people spend their time mocking those guys nowadays, their acting, their accents.. -sigh-
Anyways, enough sidetracking, I loved that movie!
Being a Paul Verhoeven movie, it was also pretty big in interpretation, more than I remembered it being.
What really happened in this movie?
Either you accept it was simply this story of this guy named Quaid who suffered from nightmares involving Mars and some brunette. He got a "Recall" which was fake implanted memories of vacations on Mars often... which awakened some actual memories of Mars that were erased from his mind. He goes to Mars for real, spends the whole movie fighting against bad guys *SPOILER alert on a decade old movie* only to discover he really was this Hauser guy. It was a plan with the main baddie to infiltrate the Martian resistance. In the end Quaid doesn't embrace his old Hauser persona and save Mars.
OR
It was all part of the Recall-implanted memories. Lots of things support this interpretation. He did get "the whole package" as he chose at Recall. He contributed in a Martian revolution, there were blue skies in the end as chosen in the simulation. Heck, he even chose that exact same brunette. Is the whole thing only a dream? (from the moment he was trying to escape from Recall?) The movie does end on a fade to white, which usually means a state of dream or someone dying on films. But you can go further than that, perhaps we, as the audience, were experiencing the whole Recall-memories, from start to beginning. Nothing was real, thus explaining things going further and further into over-the-top action. Deviating.
And even having this big muscled Schwarzy in the main role plays into the audience expectations. We have a certain level of expectations regarding the movie. Perhaps, if we'd were to choose "Martian memories" in the persona of a spy, Schwarzy would be our avatar.
God, I love Verhoeven!
Been playing a lot of fighting games too.
Some Blazblue on my sparetime. A game, I honestly am not a fan of...for a lack of trying.
I mean, since I got the original, I played so very little of the game.
But I wanted to like it!
I liked GuiltyGear, but I just never got around playing BB...
(unlike my 50+ hours into the usual Namco, SNK and Capcom fighters...)
Speaking of which, finally got a copy of Street Fighter X Tekken for super cheap, in second hand, on ebay. That way I won't geel cheated by Capcom whenever I'll buy those additional characters as DLC...
And by the by, when are they gonna release them? October?!!
I already fhought against Pacman, on the online mode, ON MY FRIGGIN' XBOX!!
And finally, Soulcalibur V!!
I wanted to dislike the game, I kept dissing it every new News blog I posted here... And even so... I just love the game!
It simply is a well rounded, well timed, well executed new entry in the long running series. I was afraid the lack of familiar faces, the exponentially over-epic theme, plus the bad after-taste SC IV left in my mouth would ruin it... So I even stared only playing with Ezio at first...
But... like, woah!!
The game is pretty fun! I love the SC-y music, the narrator, the gameplay.. Heck, even the awful *get broke by a combo/super attack and lose clothes* isn't as silly as it was in the previous entry. (though I kinda wish they'd just get rid of it...)
The characters are either new "old ones" in everything but name, children and successors who look pretty much the same, or old returning and older classic SC characters. I'm okay with it. Namco mostly cleaned up the lineup, not everyone was that essential anyway. I still have Maxi around. Mitsurugi. Even *SPOILERs-again* Kilik.
I miss Taki, but there's still a new badass ninja around, Natsu. I miss Xianghua but there's Leixia now. Even Raphael finally looks fun and playable now!
Spent lots of hours on it already, either *local* against my bro, or on Arcade, Quest and Legendary modes. Barely touched the online, but I'm an "old school" gamer, so I doubt I play a lot of it anyway.
~
And that is all I had to say~
