#OpeningTheme - #EUReKA

Today, new episode of Eureka on Syfy! Finally!

We're currently on the show's finale season, I'll be sad to let it go, but at least it got a decent run (for me, the ideal run for any show is about ~5, 6 seasons, gives enough room to develop stories and characters without stretching aimlessly without a goal and getting repetitive like those 10+ seasons kind of shows).
And heck, Syfy's got enough fun original series around, like Warehouse 13, Haven, Alphas, etc.

Anyway, I'm just sad the show hasn't been using the complete version of the opening theme anymore...
So here it is to enjoy!



I'll miss this town full of crazy scientists folk... -sigh -

#OpeningTheme - #Psych

Time to post another opening intro from one of my favorite shows I failed to cover on the blog until now it seems.

Psych is a comedy/detective series, much in the same style of Monk (which both aired on the same channel).
It's about a fake-psychic, Shaun, and his BFF Gus who hang out with the police and help them resolve various murders in Santa Barbara. Kinda like a lighter Castle.

I just love the show, the characters are great and have lots of fun interactions with one another and the stories are pretty fun. I started to watch the show from and because of a Twin Peaks tribute episode.

Here's my two favorite opening montages, from Season 2 and Season 3 of the show. You'll get the feel and tone of the series just from these clips alone!

#OpeningTheme - PaRappa the Rapper: the anime series

So like I said in my PaRappa review, in the late 90s, PaRappa reached a big enough popularity to spin off sequels, merchandising and even an anime series!

The anime was produced a bit after Um Jammer Lammy and just before the 2nd game on the PS2. It was probably made to promote that game's upcoming release.

But besides the obscurity aspect (never got out of Japan), it was a bit cheap and silly.
The art style wasn't well represented (honestly? I'd have preferred the characters to stay 2-dimensional instead of giving 'em volume). Also music/rap wasn't a big part of this cartoon.
And Joe Chin was changed for a younger rival. And Lammy was replaced by a more cliché anime character...

Anyway, the best part is without a doubt the intro:



Fun, rhythmed, well animated, I like the opening video.
Much better than the episodes themselves.

And here there's some segments were the characters are actually paper thin!

Here's a pretty fun video to start off the day.

For years, as much as I liked the 90s Animated Series, I've been asking to myself why Peter looked so weird, so off, so un-Peter Parker. I mean, big square jaws, giant athletic torso, strange hairstyle unlike any of his comic counterparts (nothing like the comic book!Peter at the time at least), and "old school" clothing style.
But thanks to this video, I finally get it!
The 90s cartoon Peter is designed to look closely like the 70s live Peter Parker! Just that a look above again! See?

It's pretty sad the networks didn't give a chance to Matthew Perry's Mr. Sunshine.
It was a pretty funny and unique show, a really nice breath of clean air amongst today's programs...

Which, old school nerds detractors-aside, is simply rockin'!!



I actually liked the way it tried to stay closer to the original Eastman and Laird TMNT comics and not the family friendly Archie Comics....

Aaaaaah.... the good ol' original theme from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon.

Who - havin' been a kid in the late 80s/early 90s - doesn't know this one?
It's a classic! Pure and simple!


While I admit, the cartoon in itself wasn't always the best quality animation-wise, the intro was simply perfect...



This is the best version I could find. Taking into account youtube tends to either delete, mute or prevent those from being embed.

OpeningTheme - The Mysterious Cities of Gold

Here's something from a pretty old and obscure cartoon.
Something I actually disliked as a kid, but which had a pretty amazing opening theme song nonetheless.

It's from The Mysterious Cities of Gold - also known as Esteban or Child of the Sun- a 1982 anime, check this out:



Easily one of the best from the 80s.

I actually knew the "original" French version Les Mystérieuses Cités d'Or, original because this was actually Japanese-French production. Check it out as well:
