#FanFilm Friday - Aperture: Lab Ratt

For today, here's a pretty fantastic Portal fanfilm, like there's so many out there.

This one being pretty fun - more so than the more "fanfic" ones - being actually an adaptation of the official Portal comic book Portal 2: Lab Rat.

It follows the story of the schizophrenic invisible protagonist of the first game, Doug Rattmann.
It starts before Portal 1, runs alongside that same game and then ends up a lil' before Portal 2.

Doug Rattman was an Aperture employee. He survived when GLaDOS took over the facility but slowly went insane. When GLaDOS made a list of test subjects, Rattman moved Chell to the #1 spot to be tested first because he had read her file and had a hunch about her....

And here's a link to the online version of the comic book.
My only complaint with all these fanfilms is how serious and moody they all are, when the game's so full of humor....

Music - Still Alive cover by Roomie

Here's a neat find of the day.
Portal's Still Alive ending theme song by some dude named "Roomie".

Okay it starts a bit slow and the guy looks like a douche kinda (sorry Roomie!) but the song is pretty darn catchy. Love the rythm and his rockin' voice!

Check this out:

Awesome!
Exactly what I needed to wake me up one this week's debut sleepy morning.

Aperture NEWS! Portal 2 Getting In-Game Map Editor Next Year

Here's a great announcement!
People loved the recent update Valve brought to Portal 2.

Well, next year you will be able to create your own levels thanks to a future update which will add an in-game editor to Portal!
Valve says the editor will allow users to create both single and co-op stages, and will be “easy to use,” which suggests an interface much simpler than what is usually used to build levels for games.
Players will also apparently be able to “view, play and vote on them [levels] with a simple click.”
And here's some early screens of said editor:

Looks pretty simple and straightforward. I love it already!

JoCo wants You Gone

This is Jonathan Coulton:

Listen to JoCo playing Portal 2's ending theme song! [Warning! Spoilers!]
Playing Want You Gone (& Still Alive) and failing at that XD
No seriously though, it's always fun to listen to him struggle on his own tunes~

Classic Jonathan Coulton XD
But it's the way he plays naturally and sometimes misses that is fun with the guy!

Here's same vid', different angle (and sound quality):

And since I'm already spamming you guys with this video, here's one more:

And now Want You Gone@ another concert (no errors this time):

Stephen Merchant interview

So... you played Portal 2 yet?
No? What are you waiting for!?!

Anyway, here's a totally cool interview of Stephen Merchant, the actor behind Wheatley's awesome voice.
Beware! It's quite spoilery if you didn't finish the game!

I really think he (his voice/Wheatly) made Portal 2 :P

Gamin' NEWS! Portal is back..with robots!!

Portal 2 is looking up quite nicely.
I really liked the first one, one of the great FPS surprises of these last years.
Who knew it would become that popular? Probably nobody expected such a reaction from the public!

Anyway, Valve's been twickin' the sequel.
Now with more puzzles!
Longer campaign!
More difficult!
More twists and surprises!
More plot!
And now with co-op!

Neat! A playable co-op mode in a side story, from the point of view of two bots!
