Outcast Studios - LIVE DRAW NIGHT September 2011

http://outcaststudios.com/forums/
Hey folks!
This weekend, with the crew at the Outcast forums, we had yet another one of those so called "Live Draw Nights"!
I tried to keep the rhythm, 4 hours of drawings sketches, while keeping my Twitter account updated during the night.
So, there's that. (if you want to follow me there!)

Like the previous times, we had a great time. Various characters and fun ideas during the night.
For those who don't know what I'm talking about... It's a art jam challenge, a sort of "drawing practice session" if you want. Divided in 4 hours, we received various characters ideas to draw under a specific time.
Lots of participants this time around.
The four hours got progressively more demanding and challenging.

Here's last session in case you want to check it out.

Let's check out my entries, if you please~
First Hour
The first hour consisted in a series of 5-10 minutes sketches done back to back.
Nothing much challenging, it was just about keeping the rhythm and entering the challenge with straight quick sketches.

We started simple enough with Nova.
A character I think I never doodled before.
Since I was quite quick on this one, I decided to add-in a bit colors...thing I kept for all the following sketches as well!

Deadpool!
A favorite of mine, so I knew exactly how to draw this one without references :P

HEY BUB!!!
Wolverine, The best at what he does! Whatever it is that the guy does for a livin'~

'nuff said!

I'll say it right away, I don't like at all how Magneto came out like..

[BREAK!! BREAK!!]

2nd Hour
Hour two was only one big sketch-long.
Meaning, a 45 minutes sketch!

Red Sonja.
Not much a fan of the character though.
The subject was actually featuring her facing a random enemy (or this Death-something guy) or the after-battle.

[BREAK!! BREAK!!]

3rd Hour
HOUR THREE!!
2 25 minutes sketch featuring a group/montage of a selected bunch of characters.

Group shot of a those characters.
I went for something kinda JLI-esque.

Same group as before, but this time the montage had to feature a gender switch (I picked Iron Fist) and an age switch (Spider-girl here).

[BREAK!! BREAK!!]

Final Hour
The 4th and last hour of the Live Draw Night!
The final challenge of the night!
Took me a whole fulll hour and a half.

The goal was to recreate a classic comic book cover - as a tribute - but featuring DCnU "The New 52!" redesigned characters.
So I did the only thing I could do...
The famous JLI group shot (original by Kevin Maguire)!

Pretty fun :'3

In the order, from left to right, top to bottom: Godiva, Vixen, Fire, Ice!Tora, Blue Beetle!Jaime Reyes, Booster Gold, August General in Iron, Batman, Green Lantern!Guy Gardner and Rocket Red!

And that is all for this LIVE DRAW NIGHT session~
Thanks for checkin' out my stuff ;)

Gamin' NEWS! Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3

So it happened again.
Capcom just announced a new edition of one of their fighting games. This time it's...

Deadpool's still on the cover!

Meet Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3!!
While SF4 was reedited as the Arcade Edition over a year later, for MVC3 (released this February) it hasn't been even 10 months and the update's already coming up!
First, let's have a look at the reveal trailer:

So, what do we have here?

"The epic rematch looms in the distance as Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 prepares to take the battle to all-new heights. With new iconic characters from the Marvel and Capcom universes, 48 characters on disc, a refined fighting system and new modes, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 continues the Capcom fighting game legacy when it releases this November for the low MSRP of $39.99."

A dozen or so new characters, including Strider and Firebrand from the Capcom side and Ghost Rider and Hawkeye from the Marvel universe.

 New modes! New balance!
And that's already a lot more than what SSF4AE got :P
And, even new costumes like these:

And you know what? The rest of the cast even got leaked! Enjoy:

Which will had Doctor Strange, Frank West (Dead Rising), Iron Fist, Nemesis (Resident Evil), Nova, Phoenix Wright, Rocket Raccoon and Vergil!

It's only missing Squirrel Girl and would have been super happy with this update!
Anyway, this is looking far more diverse and better than the actual MVC3, I might finally play it again! (seriously though, it might be the fighting game I've tuned in the less playtime...I even playtime a lot more hours of Fighter's History or Galaxy Fight than this one! talk about a deception..)

If the new characters are fun and the new balanced system more intuitive I might actually go back to Capcom. (the latest Mortal Kombat's been rocking my "fighting" time)

Gamin' NEWS! MV3 2 more to go!

And 2 more characters revealed for Marvel Vs. Capcom 3!

But first, have a look at the game's cover art!

- on Capcom's side, Akuma's just been officially revealed!
- and for Marvel's team, it's mercenary/trainer the Taskmaster!

Here's some vids:

Opinion?
Akuma...well...Akuma. As much as I love that guy...was he necessary, specially in a crossover game? I mean, he'll basically be a variation ofr Ryu, right? He's taking the spot of any of the other 100+ other SF characters I would have loved to see here. Or even non-SF! Like Alex from SF3, Strider, Mega Man himself, Phoenix Wright, etc...
Taskmaster on the other hand is a great addition. Sure he may be using other character's move, but all in all, with his various attacks/specials, he'll be original to play with! (these sort of characters are always fun to use, like Necrid in Soul Calibur, Dural to face in VF, etc..)

Can't we get more characters? Like Agent X, T-Ray or Cable? I'd like to have a complete Team Deadpool to play with!

What now?
Well, there's still 2 more to go (I won't spoil them for you in case you didn't read the rumoured list that is by now 100% confirmed). Fans of Darkstalkers (like me^^) will like one of those 2 missing characters!

The game will be released on February 15 (Europe), 17 (Japan) and 18 (America).
And here's a look at the special edition (the regular version was picture above):

And as you can see, Shuma Gorath (Marvel's Doctor Strange) and Jill (Capcom's Resident Evil) will be included with that edition, alongside other collector's items.
I prefer that over DLC characters...but even so.. I'm expecting Capcom to take advantage of the downloadable content with future DLC additions (probably already present on the disc...).
Capcom, master of the extra $$$-era.

Gamin'NEWS! MVC3 Shulkie, Zero, Shuma and Jill sandwiches

Here's the latest Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 news!

This month, with the new announcements and reveals, we're one step closer to MVC3's release date!
Capcom just announced 2 more character's debut.

- Zero from Capcom's Mega Man X series. He seems to have simply been taken from the previous Vs. game, Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom. Similar moveset and chara-model.
- She-Hulk from Marvel's Hulk lineup. We already had the green giant, seems we'll be able to play with his cousin. Her moves are rather...dull from this video. Nothing special. I guess with her in the game and Deadpool, we're gonna have plenty-o 4th wall breaking. (any chance for Squirrel Girl now?)

The vids:

Zero enters the ring!

Shulkie joins the fight!

And teh pics:

Woah!
From these pics we can already see some new costumes for those two.
Zero will have a Mega Man color swap. - alright..generic usual fightin' game palette changes..
Shulkie will have her Fantastic Four temporary costume. - neat! - in Red. - Woaaah?? Couldn't they give her a blue one? Her blue costume better be in it too. And why's her hair red? Couldn't they simply use Savage She-Hulk/Hulk's daughter from an alternate future as 2nd costume? She does have actually red hair you know...

BUT WAIT there's more!

Capcom showed the special edition the game will get (at least in the US)

Which showed two more characters!
- Shuma-Gorath from Marvel's Doctor Strange.A MVC veteran returning character!
- Jill Valentine from Capcom's Resident Evil series. Yea- NOO! Not her RE5 ugly generic bimbo look! I wanted classy RE1 Jill or smexy urban Jill from RE3!! (alternate costumes?)

They're already announcing DLC characters? For the special edition??
Meaning, on-disc??
I'm sick and tired of this generation's micro-transactions...
This game's DLC better be playable without an internet connection..
Seriously, put in one of those games that have DLC (Bioshock, Mass Effect, etc..) and disconnect your system from Xboxlive/PSN... can you play the game or does it keep asking you to redownload the content/reconnect your system? Well if you can't play the game (offline mode and console offline too) it's one of those games that you won't be able to play1-2 console generations later when the online support will be off.

Ok. That was sort of off-topic..
That's what I do best *remembers school assigments*

Anyway, for those who want to guess the upcoming characters, here's a screenshot of the current game's character select mode:
