Tiffany: What was your first reaction when you won your national title?

Carly: I could not believe that I was the last one standing on stage!!!

Tiffany: How did you get involved in NAM?

Carly: Two years ago we received a letter the mail, I beg my parents to let me try it. This was my first ever pageant!

Tiffany: What do you want to be when you grow up?

Carly: Not sure, but I think a doctor for now.

Tiffany: What to you like to do for fun?

Carly: I love to ride bikes with my friends and play outside.

Tiffany: What activities are you involved in?

Carly: Dancing, tumbling, cheerleading, softball

Tiffany: What is your best quality?

Carly: My fun and crazy personality. I love to make people laugh.





Tiffany: How would your friends describe you?

Carly: I love to shop at The Limited Too they have great clothes

Tiffany: If you had 3 wishes what would you wish for?

Carly: One to meet Miley Cyrus, Two to have my very own TV show on the Disney channel, and three to go back in the Disney cruise ship !!!

Tiffany: If you could trade places with anyone for a day who would it be?

Carly: Hannah Montana, she is my favorite person

Tiffany: If I gave you 1 million dollars what is the first thing you would bye?

Carly: a lap top for me so I don't have to use my moms

NATIONAL AMERICAN MISS

Jr. Pre-Teen Queen 2009-2010

Kaneohe resident, Miss Amber Aduja, daughter of former state senator Melodie Aduja and Lee Williams, recently earned the National Title for National American Miss for the 7 to 9 age division. She was chosen from among hundreds of candidates from all across the United States. The National Queens were chosen on the basis of their academic status, poise and personality on stage, poise and personality in an interview, communication skills, and community service.

Miss Amber Aduja will be traveling across the country this summer representing the National American Miss Pageant Program. She will also receive an all expense paid trip to the National Pageant to be held in Anaheim, California during Thanksgiving week to crown her successor. While in California, she will receive a special day in Disneyland for two and a famous tour of Hollywood for two.

The National American Miss Pageants are dedicated to celebrating America’s greatness and encouraging its future leaders. Each year, the pageant awards thousands in scholarships and prizes to recognize and assist the development of young women nationwide. All activities are age-appropriate and family-oriented. Pageants are held for girls ages four to twenty in six different age divisions.

The National American Miss Pageants are for “Today’s Girl” and “Tomorrow’s Leaders.” The pageant program is based on inner beauty, as well as poise, presentation, and offers an “All American Spirit” of fun for family and friends. Emphasis is placed on the importance of gaining self-confidence, learning new skills, learning good attitudes about competition, and setting and achieving personal goals. The pageant seeks to recognize the accomplishments of each girl while encouraging her to set goals for the future!

Miss Amber Aduja is a 1st Honors Student with a G.P.A. of 4.0 at St. Ann’s Model School in Kaneohe, Hawaii. Her activities include community service such as volunteering for the Lokahi Giving Project. Recently, Amber coordinated two Lokahi Fishnet Donation Drives in Kaneohe which earned a combined total of $3162.00 for needy families in Hawaii.

Amber’s activities also include Taekwondo Martial Arts and Tahitian dancing. She also participates in the St. Ann’s Model School choir and volleyball team.

In addition to garnering the overall title of National American Miss Jr. Pre-Teen Queen, Amber placed 1st Runner-up in Casual Wear Runway Modeling and 2nd Runner-up in the Most Promising Model categories.

Its time to get the inside scoop on our sassy NAM National PreTeen Queen Erika Porras !!



Tiffany:What was your first reaction when you won your national title?



Erika: I was so excited and honored. When the MC announced "Your new NAM Queen is....... Erika Porras " I cried, sat down on the floor, ran in a circle, and I walked away from the crown because I didn't believe it...I was on shock!!! It was a dream come true!



Tiffany: How did you prepare for nationals?



Erika: I worked very hard preparing my personal introduction and practicing interview questions in front of my family. Every day on my way to school, I had to tell my personal introduction to my mom. The most important skill I learned was to be confident in who you are, set goals and believe in your dreams.



Tiffany: How did you get involved in NAM?



Erika: was involved in NAM because my friend highly recommended this pageant to me. This pageant is very unique. I Love NAM!!!



Tiffany: What do you want to be when you grow up?



Erika: I want to graduate as valedictorian, receive my Medical Degree from Harvard University; Become a Pediatrician; Be a positive role model serving my community and make my family proud!



Tiffany: What do you like to do for fun?



Erika: I play volleyball with my friends love working together as a team; dancing; taekwondo; acting: modeling: and I am very passionate about volunteering in my community. I make people around me smile and make friends easily. I am a busy girl and love to lend a helping hand.



Tiffany: What activities are you involved in?



Erika: I am an International Student Ambassador for the People to People Organization. This summer, I traveled to Tokyo, Japan representing the best of our country. We promote cultural understanding, humanitarian efforts and world peace. I am also a School Peer Mediator; I also volunteer for several charities and community Organizations: The City of Hartford, American Cancer Society, American Liver Foundation, Multi-National Lions Club, Catholic Charities The Institute for Community Development and many more..



Tiffany: What is your best quality?



Erika: I am Dedicated in everything that I do.



Tiffany: Where is your favorite place to shop?



Erika: My favorite place to shop has to be Mandees... they have awesome outfits !!!



Tiffany: Finish this sentence: People would be surprised to know...



Erika: that I climbed Mt. Fuji (Japan) !



Tiffany: What is your favorite childhood memory ?



Erika: I am blessed to have an excellent childhood full of many memories. My family loves to travel. My best memory was cruising the Caribbean, discovering the beautiful beaches, food, music and cultures and the wonderful people. It was the time of my life!!



Tiffany: If you had 3 wishes what would you wish for?



Erika: 1. My brother died from Kidney Failure 3 years ago in November. My wish is for my brother to be able to see all that I have accomplished, he is my guardian angel in heaven. 2.that there were more hours in day ..So much to do and not enough time. 3. that I had smaller feet. I wear size 11 shoes in woman.. shocker, I know, It is very hard to find pretty shoes..



Tiffany: If you could trade places with anyone for a day who would it be?



Erika: My pediatrician, Dr. Fromson because he has made an impact in my life because I wanted to become a pediatrician since I met him! His love for children is unique.



Tiffany: If I gave you 1 million dollars what is the first thing you would buy?



Erika: An outfit for each day of the year ...lol there's never too much shopping for a girl.



Tiffany: What is your favorite quote?



Erika: "The Beauty Belongs to Those Who Believe in the Beauty of Their Dreams" Eleanor Roosevelt



Tiffany:What is your most prized possession?



Erika: I would have to say my family album because I can always look back and I will remember the good times we share. I love to spend time with my family.



Tiffany: Who is your role model ?



Erika: My role model is my mother because she taught me the values of education, community service and the pursue of excellence.



Tiffany: What do you hope to accomplish as the NAM national PreTeen Queen ?



Erika: I want to encourage others my age to believe in themselves, be involved in their communities and know with determination, persistence, anything is possible. I want to instill the values of education, health and the pursue of excellence to all. I want to represent this organization with pride, honor and dignity. I will be be a positve role mode and will promote my title with honor.



Tiffany: If you could witness any historical event which would you choose ?



Erika: I would like to have witnessed the swear in of Sonya Sotomayor because she believed in her dreams and accomplished to become the first latina to serve as US Supreme Court Justice.That was a very historic and exciting event.



Tiffany:If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life what would it be?



Erika: Strawberries...mmm i love the sweet and sour taste in Strawberries!



Tiffany: What advice do you have for any girls thinking about entering NAM?



Erika: I love this pageant system because they provide you all the materials to be prepared for the competition. Read the pageant magazines, watch the pageant videos, visit the website Namiss.com, and follow the pageant rules. Set goals and prepare yourself, practice make perfect..do your best and most important make friends during the pageant weekend. You want to be confident and persistence to reach for your goals, show your best of your personality, be natural. What matter most is how you see yourself. Bring your family and friends and have the time of your life. The memories will last forever!!! I highly recommend this pageant.



Tiffany: What makes you unique ?



Erika:I am dedicated, caring and responsible girl with big dreams. I love to help others and want to make a positive difference in the world.

DONATION DRIVE SCHEDULED WEDNESDAY, DEC. 23rd

Amber Aduja’s (National American Miss Queen 2010) First Lokahi Giving Project Fishnet Drive was very successful. 10 year old Amber, a St. Ann’s Model School 5th grader, coordinated a Lokahi Fishnet Drive and garnered $1312.00 in donations from our Kaneohe community within 4 hours. Her pageant sisters and their moms, her brother and his teammates, and other volunteers, even a couple of passerbyers, chipped in their time for a worthy cause. One woman, who is homeless, tirelessly held the Lokahi Fishnet for over three hours and was willing to hold it for another two hours while the rest of us were breaking down. This was a very touching scenario of goodwill and charity. This is what Lokahi is all about. Our community coming out for our community in need is what “Lokahi” a.k.a. “Unity” is all about.



Amber Aduja has scheduled a second Lokahi Fishnet Donation Drive for December 23rd and she is in need of more volunteers. Come join us. We will have T-shirts, fishnets and refreshments for you. Contact Melodie at 258-8889 or just meet in front of First Hawaiian Bank at the Windward City Shopping Center at 11:30 a.m.



The Lokahi Giving Project in conjunction with Kaneohe resident, Amber Aduja, National American Miss Jr. Pre-Teen Queen; former state senator Melodie Aduja; Jadyn Wilderman, Hawaii’s Miss Grand Queen; Rose Marques, Hawaii’s Pre-Teen Miss Queen; New Media Productions; Kaneohe Football and Basketball team players; 12 Step House and its members; and other volunteers will be conducting their 2nd Fishnet Gift and Donation Drive at the Kamehameha and Likelike – Kaneohe Bay Drive intersection fronting Windward City Shopping Center on Wednesday, December 23, 2009, from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. Volunteers are to meet at 11:30 a.m. at the First Hawaiian Bank parking lot.



The Lokahi Giving Project strives to spread the “Lokahi Spirit” (Unity Spirit) with families in need, senior citizens, at-risk teens, children with special needs, and groups who really need some holiday cheer and basic necessities during the Christmas season. Lokahi works in conjunction with non-profits, group homes, shelters and hospitals to refer their most deserving and needy clients to receive Lokahi’s assistance.

The Lokahi Giving Project accepts many types of donated items including new or gently used linens, toiletries, cleaning products, non-perishable foods stuffs, toys, games, clothing and other household items. Gift cards for groceries or department stores are highly desired. Volunteers are in high demand during this time as well. Tiffany: What was your first reaction after winning the title of National American Princess 09-10?

Courtney: Oh my GOODNESS, I can't believe it !!

Tiffany: How did you prepare for the national pageant?

Courtney: I practiced talking to lots of people and I told them my introduction.

Tiffany: How did you get involved with NAM ?

Courtney: I got involved with NAM because a couple of my friends did and they told me I had to do it !!!

Tiffany: What do you want to be when you grow up?

Courtney: I want to be a teacher or a Pittsburgh Steelers Cheerleader. I like school so I think I would like to teach and I love to cheer and the Steelers are my favorite team.

Tiffany: What do you like to do for fun ?

Courtney: I like to play with my family and friends.

Tiffany: What activities are you involved in ?

Courtney: I'm involved in cheerleading, dance and gymnastics.

Courtney: I am determined. When I put my mind to something I am determined to learn it or do it.

Caitlyn Taylor Love, the 2004 Miss Texas Jr PreTeen will star in her very show on the Disney Channel called "I'm in the Band" !!! I first met Caitlyn at the North Texas Pageant back in 2004 !! Caitlyn also won the Talent Competition that year and went on to Nationals and placed in the TOP 5 for Talent as well. Back then she was a small girl with BIG VOICE !!! Now she is on her way to become Hollywood Royalty. Caitlyn also starred in the hit TV show "America's Got Talent" We are so proud of Caitlyn we can't wait to see what she does next ! 2009 National American Miss Illinois Teen Lynzi Misuraca Models Designer Pageant Gowns !!!

The 2009 National American Miss Illinois Teen Lynzi Misuraca and the 2008 National American Miss Wisconsin Amanda Garrity made an appearance in Chicago Illinois. Lynzi modeled a Johnathon Kayne dress, you may remember Johnathon Kayne from PROJECT RUNWAY !! Johnathon is a famous designer that specializes in pageant dresses. She got to meet Heather French a former Miss America who is coming out with her own dress line Frenchy's. Lynzi and Amanda also had the chance to meet world famous pageant dress designer Tony Bowls.

Taylor Swift and National American Miss !

This year at nationals we added something new and exciting !!! We had a BAND HERO competition where girls in the preteen, jr teen, teen competed for a spot in the band. It was AWESOME the competition was fierce !! The winners got to shoot their very own music video right on the national stage !!! It was full with laser lights, a camera crew and of course screaming fans !! make sure you go to our youtube channel... My NAMiss. WOW !!! Nationals 2009 was AWESOME !!! So many talented and beautiful young ladies graced the national stage! I'm so proud of all of our girls ! I truly believe that each of you girls are going to do great things in your life. It is an honor to set backstage and watch the magic happen.

Nationals week was a blast. The week was full of trips to Disneyland, tours to Hollywood and of course the Thanksgiving banquet! All of the girls competed in Interview, Formal wear modeling, and personal introduction. The optional competitions were out of this world ! I was blown away by all of the talent ! I know some of you girls will be starring on Broadway one day. The actress competition was hilarious !! Miley Cyrus better watch out ! Casual wear was so fun, I loved describing all of the FABULOUS outfits !! I was truly touched by all of the Spokesmodel speeches ! You girls are so wise beyond your years ! You are the leaders of tomorrow, continue to take a stand for what you believe in. Tyra better get ready because the Top Model competition was so fierce !

I'm so impressed by all the community service hours logged by you girls ! You are making a difference in the life of others ! Congratulations for giving your time to help the lives of others. I have to give a shout out to all of the 2008-2009 National Queens !! I'm going to miss you girls so much ! It was an honor to watch the sister hood you girls formed !!I'm so proud of each and every one of you!!! I love you ! To all of the newly crowned queens , hold on to your seat you are in for a ride!! This year will ROCK your socks off !!

Nationals Day 2 !!!

The second day of nationals has came to an end !!! What a day ! The Princess contestants had a BLAST at Disneyland, while the Jr Pre Teen contestants took to the national stage to compete in the optional competitions !!! The girls were amazing in talent ! The Casual Wear outfits were straight from the catwalks and in the spokesmodel competition I know we have some future news broadcasters among us !!! I heard the actress competition was so funny with star quality commercials ! The Pre Teen contestants also arrived today ! They had check in, orientation and a GROOVY 70's PARTY !! WHAT AN AWESOME DAY !!

Nationals Day 1 !!!

The first day of 09 national pageant has officially came to an end !!! Today was AWESOME !! I got to see so many familiar faces and meet so many new friends !! We started the day with Princess and Jr PreTeen check in, then we moved into the Grand Ballroom for Orientation! It was SOOO much fun ! The National Queens took to the stage to welcome all of the national contestants and all of the staff was introduced ! Plus the National Queens took to the runway for an official NAM fashion show ! Plus Breanne Maples and myself introduced our NEW YOUTUBE Show !!! Move over Miley and Mandy , its hello to "The Breanne and Tiffany Show !!!

I've been looking into building a trail. I don't know how to build a trail or berms, so I checked on pinkbike. Thanks "Dmadness" from Canada:

"i've built a couple. I usually Sharpen some Steak's and Drive em into the Ground at angle.. then Weave a couple of thin Branches through them Horizontally, till I have A wicker looking frame.. I've ridden a couple In this fashion without Throwing dirt on em and they work fine But they are much better if you then Build a dirt up on them.. you gotta pack it good And it helps if you have some Clay type dirt ( look for "trail mix" bags at your local Home hardware or such.. it's a mix of Clay and Dirt basically and it Set's up well with the addition of a little water."

That's probably the best advice I've ever heard. Weave loose sticks into stakes in the ground, and then ride it... Genius!

Maybe even add some dirt (that I purchased from home depot?). How many bags of "trail mix" dirt would you have to buy for a 1 minute long track?

It is Time to Start Packing for NATIONALS 2009 !!!

I can't believe nationals is here again !!! Where does the time go ? Its seems like just yesterday the 08 national queens were being crowned ! I leave tomorrow morning for Los Angeles!! I will start up dating as soon as I can ! I'm sooo excited to see all of my NAM friends, I can NOT wait ! Its time for me to start packing YIKES, that could be a scary process !!! I wonder if they will let me take an extra suitcase haha !!

Here is a packing list you can go by, you don't want to forget anything !!!

1. Your formal dress

2. Interview suit

3. Opening Number Shirt From State

4. Shoes for every outfit

5. Casual Clothes for rehearsals

6.Everything you need to your hair

hair spray, shampoo, hair clips etc

7.Camera to capture all your pageant memories

8. Make up ( for Jr Teen, Teen and Miss)

9. Sewing kit ... just in case

10. Opening Number outfit

11. For anything else you might need there is a Target across the street haha

I can not wait to see all you again and meet new friends ! It is such a blessing to be able to spend this holiday week with such talented and beautiful girls !! My flight leaves bright and early so I better finish packing !! See you all in Sunny California !!

A word from Kaydianna

I am a spunky 10 year old from Michigan City , Indiana. We moved to BIG CITY Texas about 4 years ago. I love it here!!!I love to dance , dance and sing sing sing.. I can sing almost anything.. Like right now.. My mom is typing and I am singing. Also I am very random!!! I could be in a restaurant and just bust out dancing. And or singing and or both!! I am pretty loud. I feel bad sometimes because I don't scream like a girl. I scream really low. It sounds like someone is dying..I love shopping with my MOM and Dad. Ok well not both of them just my Mom and using my Daddy's money. I am the only girl on both sides of the family,but maybe not for long. I spend alot of time at church with my Jlife program. We do alot of mission projects across the state of Texas for kids like you and me. I love sushi again.. there was a time that I didn't like it but I Love it now!! I love Jesus, he is truly my homeboy!! I have a naturally funny family. Well we think we are? We are always joking around and laughing at my brother. I want to dance in one of the Kenny Ortega productions ... Disney Productions. That's all for me now !!! Peace!!!

Tiffany: How has your life changed since winning your national title ?

Kaydianna: Well I'm a little richer than I was when I started..and I got a frequent flyer miles card. Sometimes I have a headache from wearing the crown haha, but It's been SOOOOO MUCH FUN!!

Tiffany:What do you like to do for fun ?

Kaydianna: Dancing ! Shopping with my mom, and I love having sleepovers with my friends.

Tiffany: What do you want to be when you grow up?

Kaydianna: A lot of things.. but I want to end up in HOLLYWOOD !!!

Tiffany:What makes your state special?

Kaydianna: it is really HOT !

Tiffany:If you could only tell me one thing about yourself what would it be ?

Kaydianna: CRAZY FUN.. Ok that's 2 words but if you but them together its one !

Kaydianna:My favorite is interview because its a challenge and they are going to know the real me like it or not.

Kaydianna: My mom... She is AWESOME !

Kaydianna: I couldn't breathe ...so the first thing I did was breathe ! Then I thought. are they for real ??

Kaydianna: I practiced interview questions and my introduction a lot !

Tiffany:What is the best advice you can give to a future NAM contestant?

Kaydianna: Be yourself because there is only one you !!!

Kaydianna: Believe in yourself because if you don't believe how can any one else?

Kaydianna: cell phone, food, and my mom

Tiffany:What life skills has Kaydianna learned from being involved in NAM?

Candice: Kaydianna has turned from this shy girl who used to hide behind her father when people would talk to her to, An amazing girl who talks all the time !We cant get her to be quiet... She has really turned into a GREAT speaker.

Tiffany:What is your favorite Pageant memory of Kaydianna?

Candice:My favorite pageant memory is when she hits the stage for formal wear .. She and her Dad always take my breath away. I always tear up when I see them.

Tiffany: Would your recommend NAM to other families?

Candice: ABSOLUTELY!!! This has been one of the best experiences of our lives. The title was an extra added bonus. We have met so many AWESOME families across America.

Tiffany: What will Kaydianna take away from her NAM experience?

Candice: Her friends. Confidence . And being able to speak publicly.

Tiffany: What advice can you give to future NAM parents?

Candice: Take all that you can away from this,be your daughters Biggest Fan!! It starts with you!

Tiffany:As a parent how have you seen your daughter change after wining her national title?

Candice: Kaydi has grown even more being the National title winner. She is even more confident and a great role model for young girls. She has also seen the true meaning of ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE TO THEM WHO BELIEVE!
