Renowned author Ray Bradbury passed away this morning at the age of 91 in Los Angeles.

He was the fantastic writer behind such classics as The Martian Chronicles, Something Wicked This Way Comes, and many more!

I will always remember reading Fahrenheit 451 for a school assignment a loooooooooong while ago. It stuck in head for many years to come. Such an intriguing read.

You will be sorely missed, Mr. Bradbury.
May you rest in peace!

RIP Mœbius

It's is a very sad day for comics all over the world.

Mœbius, aka Jean Henri Gaston Giraud (or simply just Jean Giraud) has passed away.
This legendary French comic book artist is sadly no more.

Mostly known for his abstract style, and having created Blueberry and Arzach.
His work has influenced hundred of artists all across the globe.

He worked on such different mediums, from comics, to cinema, animation, etc. He inspired many great artists and writers alike with his unique style and memorable universes.

Now he's gone, and the comic books world is already feeling much smaller now...

RIP Davy Jones

One of the Monkees, legendary songwriter and singer Davy Jones passed away this night, at 66.

I always loved the Monkees, easily one of my favorite band of the late 60s/70s. I used to watch the reruns of the show in the 90s all the time.

RIP Joe Simon

Today, another comic book legend passed away...
The more time passes, the more our connection to the Golden Age gets thinner...

Comic book legend Joe Simon died at 98.
He was actually the co-creator of Captain America and the first Marvel Comic Editor-in-chief.
He also worked at the concurrence, mostly on Superman titles.
He helped launch characters like Boy Commandos, Manhunter, Sand the Golden Boy, Newsboy Legion and Manhunter. He is considered a pioneer of both horror and romance comic books.

RIP Mister Simon. :(

RIP Jerry Robinson

Jerry Robinson passed away.
A comic book legend, he was best known for being the (co-)creator of the Joker.
Another of DC's greats is no more.  :(

Creating the Joker, he made a character as world renowned as Batman and Robin themselves!
In addition to creating the Joker, Robinson is also credited as co-creator of Alfred Pennyworth and creator of Tweedledee, Tweedledum and Tony Zucco.
Since 2007, he was DC's creative consultant.

Robinson died on the afternoon of December 7, 2011 in New York City. He was 89.
RIP Mr. Robinson.

RIP Steve Jobs

Not much of a news, but worth reporting it..

Steve Jobs died today at age 56.

As I've read it:

"Jobs had been fighting pancreatic cancer for several years, which had made it hard for him to continue on as Apple's CEO. He resigned from that post on August 24, 2011."

And that is all~

Not gonna discuss what I liked and disliked about Apple here though~

RIP Sidney Lumet

Movie director Sidney Lumet died this morning at 86.

RIP Sidney Lumet!

This Oscar winning director will always be remember for over a dozen and more movies he did through decades.
Such as the Michael Caine & Christopher Reeve's movie Deathtrap, the musical The Wiz or Al Pacino's Serpico.

I'll remember him for that great Vin Diesel collaboration he did in 2006.

Dwayne McDuffie Tribute

Today is a really sad day...
I launch my explorer this morning at work, and what do I see? Another great man has passed away....

RIP Dwayne McDuffie.

Another great artist. Sad news :(

I know what some of you might say, "Dwayne-who??", specially if like me you're from Europe. 
Well chances are you probably read or seen some of his stuff and didn't knew it!

He created in the early 90s the small independant in-print Milestone Comics which was later on absorbed by DC. He created the famous character Static which was even adapted into a cartoon series. He also created Icon, Xombi (love this one btw),..
He was on the pencils for Beyond! a story arc at Marvel comics.
On the animation scene he also was involved in a lot of the DCAU.
His last work was currently working on the animated All-Star Superman film.


Yesterday evening, on February 22, 2011, McDuffie died from complications due to a surgical procedure performed the previous evening.

And here's some coments by people working in the industry, hear 'em out:
"First time my name appeared in a comic was because of Dwayne McDuffie. I was the intern on a Damage Control comic and just to be a nice guy - and because he knew I'd get a kick out of it, he included my name in a fake movie credit sequence. I'd no idea if I'd ever get to work on-a comic as an editor, writer, or anything-- and just seeing it was so amazing to a geek like me. And he knew it. I'll never forget that. :)"

Irvin Kershner - RIP

April 29, 1923 – November 27, 2010

On the night of November 27, 2010(2010-11-27), at 87, Irvin Kershner died.
He directed, amongst some other cult classics flicks 2 of my favorite flicks, Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back and RoboCop 2.

Rest in Piece.

Here's a quote from Kershner:

Leslie Nielsen - RIP

February 11, 1926 - November 28, 2010 (aged 84)(2010-11-28)

I've just seen (thanks to a note from my bro') that the great comedian genius Leslie Nielsen died this night.
...

"In November 2010, Nielsen was admitted to a Fort Lauderdale, Florida hospital for pneumonia. On November 28, Doug Nielsen, Nielsen's nephew, announced to the CJOB radio station that Nielsen had died in his sleep around 5:30 p.m. EST, surrounded by family and friends."
