Gamin' NEWS! Telltale games announcements

Telltale Games announced their full catalog of upcoming titles this weekend.
I just waited for the official teasers and press release to write down this post :P
First of, let's start right away with their full listing:

That's right, they'll be releasing during this year adventure games: The Walking Dead, Fables, Puzzle Agent 2, King's Quest and Hector: Badge of Carnage.

Now, on to the games themselves:

The Walking Dead
"We've partnered with Robert Kirkman, the creator of the critically acclaimed comics series, to create games based in the universe that deal with how the last surviving humans learn to cope with a world full of zombies. Above, is an image done by The Walking Dead artist Charlie Adlard to commemorate the announcement"

Release window for fall 2011, here's the official website.

I can't say I was expecting that. Keeping the ball rollin', heh? That what I call making a profitable choice, what with the current well-liked tv series and all~
I love the comics, have been following it via TPB since day-1. But a(n adventure) game?  Really?
Oh well.. Adaptations are quite popular lately.
Worth a check.

Fables
"Our world collides with the domain of fairy tales in our upcoming project based on the award-winning Vertigo comic series by Bill Willingham."

Another comic book adaptation. And even less expected.
This adventure series will be based on the famous comic created by writer Bill Willingham,
No more info about it, so I'm guessing a winter 2011/2012 release?

Hector: Badge of Carnage
This one was an indie point & click series that you can read more about here.
Since its release on June 2010, there hasn't been any info on the rest of the trilogy.
Until now that is, Telltale will be finishing episode 2&3 and re-releasing episode 1:

"We're continuing the comedically raunching crime story, with Episode 1 already in the iTunes App Store, in a partnership with Straandlooper Studios. We're also bringing Episode 1 to PC, Mac, and iPad. Watch the trailer above. "

Here's an old trailer before it went "Telltale":

Puzzle Agent 2
"After the success of the pilot episode of Puzzle Agent, we're going to conclude the story of Nelson Tethers' investigation into the strange occurrences in Scoggins, Minnesota."

Puzzle agent was a huge surprise and had a huge success! More so than what anybody expected!
If you haven't tried it, do it right away! It's probably Telltale most original adventure game (based on Dunk. comic strips) and features the most challenging and fun puzzles they did so far!

Great news for the fans, here's a trailer:

King's Quest

"Return to the Kingdom of Daventry as we're working on new adventures based on the classic adventure game series!"

Probably the best announcement. And even if you're not interested.
From a bigger overall point of view, this means people can already purchase old Sierra licenses (Sierra doesn't exist anymore, nor does its old production Vivendi Universal games, most of their franchises were lost after Activision bought the remaining studios).

The King's Quest series might not be Sierra's most famous franchise (that would either go to Police Quest/SWAT or Leisure Suit Larry), but it's a start.
Can't wait to see how they'll turn this into.

And finally, all these big Telltale announcements might make some of you forget, but there's a huge wolrd of new adventure games out there. Telltale might be the more mainstream and popular currently, but don't oversight the likes of Autumn Moon Entertainment (2 upcoming A Vampyre Story games and a rumoured new Ghost Pirates), Péndulo Studios (The Next Big Thing), Deck13 Interactive (new Ankh and Jack Keane games rumoured as well as an upcoming new IP), etc...
