Gamin' NEWS! New #Capcom trailers straight from Captivate 2012

Capcom released some brand new trailers featuring their upcoming new "big" titles, at their very own private Convention, "Captivate 2012".
Check this out for some zombies, snow action and devils that might be crying...
First up his Resident Evil 6, finally revealed thanks to this (second) trailer!

RE6 which is looking quite promising so far.
Looking great and sheduled for October 2.
Amongst the new tidbits, it seems that the young Sherry Birkin from RE2 is making a comeback!

Check this out:

Looking nice! B)
Can't wait!
Expect this one for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

~

Next up is a surprise Lost Planet 3!

Whoaa... I wasn't expecting this one :P
I still have yet to play LP2, but I loved LP1, so I'm all for it.

This one's aimed for mid-2013. It's a return to the snowy planet, with a prequel story taking place before LP1. Exactly what fans were originally expecting from LP2, since everything seemed to point out that the story should focus on the father of the original game's protagonist at some point to explore the early days of the "lost planet".

Developed externally at Spark Unlimited.

Check this out:

Color me intrigued!

~

And last but not least, it's the return of Capcom's Devil May Cry series, I series, I'll confess, I never tried until now but will probably catch on with the recently released "HD Collection" - with the "rebooted" DmC: Devil May Cry by the talented Ninja Theory studio (Enslaved).

I know fanboys are gonna rage about this one, but this feels pretty mysterious and intriguing. It might actually be quite a fun title!
Gameplay wise it does look great.
The story will either be some meta self-referential parody of the series or something gritty/emo-ysh.

Anyways, something worth keeping an eye on.

~

And that is all.
I was expecting some info regarding Dead Rising 3 as well, but without luck...

Gamin' NEWS! more on #AnarchyReigns + Transformers

Here's a couple of videogame news!
3rd person action games it is for t'day!
First up, Sega and Platinum Games just released two new trailers for Anarchy Reigns, on both Sega's (SegaSide) and Platinum's (PlatinumSide) website of the game.

Duality is the key word here.

They both highlight Jack Cayman and Leo's scenario. (which just goes to confirm this game's simply MadWorld 2 at heart)
Enjoy:

Loads of gameplay and CGi cinematic scenes in there!
It is basically a continuation of the story of MadWorld. And the game itself plays pretty similarly in the singleplayer mode. (the multiplayer will be more action/match/arena oriented)

~

Meanwhile, Activision released an all-new trailer for their own Transformers: Fall of Cybertron.
This sequel to War for Cybertron is looking pretty promising, if you ask me.

And I'm not a fan of Transformers (mostly a casual fan you can say), but seeing these "dinobots", "insectbots", etc. come together in this epic conclusion.. High Moon did a great job of improving an already fun enough game.

Keep an eye out for this one, 'round August 28.

Gamin' NEWS! here's 2 new Binary Domain trailers

Sega just released a new cinematic CGi trailer for their upcoming action-3rd person shooter Binary Domain:

And one more about the weapons:

This title developed by Yakuza and Monkey Ball creator at the Sega Ryû Ga Gotoku Studiois sheduled for a February 24 release date.

Exploring and fighting in Toyko, 2080, looks like a fun job.
I can't wait to try this over-the-top game, looks fun so far!

Gamin' NEWS! Resident Evil 6 announced

So it is finally official!
Capcom has finally announced Resident Evil 6, released a trailer for it and given a release date.

RE6 is coming up at the end of the year, on November 20.
It will feature a return to basis with a more urban environment (hooray!), more classic elements/story/character and the return of RE1's Chris Redfield and RE2's Leon S. Kennedy.

And here's the trailer!

This is looking pretty great so far!

Still using the RE4/5 3rd person over the shoulder. It was obvious they would continue to follow that route ()though part of me which they coulda found a compromise, like Ubisoft's Cold Fear)

I also see the artstyle is a bit more realistic, so Chris doesn't look as over-the-top/gigantic/super-muscular as he was in RE5.

Here's the official pitch:
It has been ten years since the Raccoon City incident and the President of the United States has decided to reveal the truth behind what took place in the belief that it will curb the current resurgence in bioterrorist activity. Due to be by the President’s side is his personal friend and Raccoon City survivor, Leon S. Kennedy, but when the venue suffers a bioterrorist attack, Leon is forced to face a President transformed beyond recognition and make his hardest ever decision. At the same time, Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance member Chris Redfield arrives in China, itself under threat of a bioterrorist attack. With no country safe from these attacks and the ensuing outbreaks, the entire world’s population is united by a common fear that there is no hope left.

Gamin' NEWS! This doesn't look very Max Payne-ysh to me...

As a matter of fact...

Man.. I still don't really like the direction of all this, no matter how good or fun it might turn out to be...
Why didn't they improvise a new IP simply`???....

Gamin' NEWS! Hitman news and, hey, remember Binary Domain?

Here's some little updates on upcoming games of interest.

Gosh, I sound so smart when I want to.

First of all, finally some gameplay of the upcoming new Hitman game Hitman: Absolution.

I absolutely love this series.
It kinda disappear off track, so I'm guessing most of the current gaming generations has no idea what these games are like.
Always loved the interactivity, the rich and interesting universe/gameplay of the series. Where you could plan a dozen scenarios to execute your "contracts".
This one's still developed by series creator IO Interactive. (unlike Core Design with the Tomb Raider series, another classic from Eidos)

Check it out:

This one's coming somewhen in 2012.

And what's more to it, there's already rumors of yet another Hitman up next coming on the shelves.
Square Enix have already basically confirmed it, somehow.
You see, since Square Enix is barely selling games these days, and since they also acquired  Eidos alongside all their old franchises, they confirmed their plan to develop ten strong franchises.
And a copyright just showed up recently:

It seems another game starring Agent 47's coming, this one titled Hitman: Profession.
Probably developed either by another studio or back in intern at Square Enix.

Either way, I'm not liking much the idea.
That's like, with the upcming Max Payne 3 at Rockstar. Imagine another game coming up, this one's developed by Remedy. Which one would you be the most awaiting for? The "fake one", cash-in, developed by the publisher to make money on one of their ips, with a new direction, radical shift in the presentation and tone...or the other one coming up from the series' creators?

~

Anyways, here's something else.
Remember Binary Domain?
That random over-the-top 3rd person shooter from Monkey Ball and Yakuza creator?

Sega just released another trailer for it finally!

This one's coming up around February 24.
It's looking great, probably one of the sleeper hits of the year. (and by hit I mean fun playing good looking enjoyable game, not "money-selling" hit...)

Gamin' NEWS! Survival horror, ahoy!

It's time to check out some news regarding upcoming Survival Horror titles~
First up, the classic franchise Resident Evil will be back with the new installment Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City!

I'm glad to see so many familiar faces!

Awesome! Glad too this shaping up nicely^^

Also, yay! The "real" Jill Valentine! I missed her^^

Carlos' got a brand new face it seems. And HUNK!! Heck Yeah!!

This co-op squad-based shooter is looking sharp, for a release date on March 20 next year.

~

Next up, a newcomer!

Amy is another upcoming survival horror, a more classic one developed by a fresh new French-based studio. VectorCell is developing and the title will be published by Lexis Numerique. (in most of EU at least).

Unlike the recent Resident Evils by Capcom, the approach is less focused on action (which is a great thing!) and more on tension and suspense, and horror itself.

And what is exactly this title's own gimmick (like most iterations of the genre tend to do)?
Amy will mix dark survival horror with one long cooperative escort mission.
The traditional zombies will, of course, be part of the threat here, once again.

Story wise it's settings take place in 2034. Lana, our main character, is (and I quote:) "a gal that is starting to turn zombie from a space virus that crashed into her home town. She gets help with her condition from an unlikely partner, an eight-year-old autistic girl named Amy. When Amy is around, the inner zombie calms down."

Here's a trailer which showcases the gameplay. Fighting won't be the main aspect here for a change. Stealth and careful planning will be the key word here.

And one more, an earlier trailer:

And the original trailer from this august:

So far it's looking great!
The camera looks a tad awkward for now, and the gameplay's a bit stiff, but the developing team's a bit rough so far and I'm sure the more concerning problems will be fixed in time no doubt.
The game will be out next year on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3!

Gamin' NEWS! New Transformers game

It was announced today, through Game Informer that the guys behind the game Transformers: War for Cybertron will be releasing a sequel to that previous title next year, under the name Transformers: Fall of Cybertron.

Now, honestly I'm not a big Transformers fan and knows next to nothing relating to this franchise.
Even though, I got to admit the original Transformers had a certain charm that is totally lacking from Micheal Bay's Hollywood movies. Be it the simpler and yet more understable designs, the robot characters actually looking like characters and different from one another, etc..
(yeah, I hate those awful boring complex CGi designs, were you can only make out 3-4 "good" Autobots transformers and then all the others look the same from one another, big messy grey-ysh over-detailed designs..)

Activision and High Moon Studio will introduce new ideas and concepts, alongside new characters in this new installment. It will probably play similar, that is, 3rd person action-shooter.

Anyway, it will surely be better than any of those past movie-Transformers games..

Dinobots!!

And if all this didn't convince you, there will probably be another perfectly Transformers-ysh tune for the new game...
Like what the epic Stan Bush did for the previous one:

Gamin' NEWS! two old franchises are brought back

Let's check out the new videos just freshly released to two completely different long forgotten franchises brought back to life with our current modern technology.
And I'm speaking of Sega's SHINOBI and Rockstar's MAX PAYNE!
Here's a brand new Japanese trailer for Shinobi 3D from Sega.
The game's sheduled for November 17 in Japan, and a bit earlier (!!) on Nobember 11 in this part of the world, on 3DS.

Looking a bit nicer and better in motion than what we saw in earlier screenshots.
This game developed by Griptonite Games will tie-in both the earlier 16-bits Shinobi featuring Joe Musashi and the PS2 games featuring Hotsuma with a plot revolving around Joe's father (and protagonist this time around).

It seems the game will be a return to a more arcade-ysh direction, content to unlock, lots of platforming, etc..

Meanwhile, Rockstar Games just released this trailer for the upcoming Max Payne 3:

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, but as an old school fan of the Max Payne series and a hardcore fan at that, this isn't looking much promising to me. (see my earlier Max Payne 3-related posts for more on that...)

But, yeah.. so tired of the "Open world sandbox games are kids favorite genre these day so let's make another one and stick a well known IP on it to boost the sales"...
At least, it looks nice graphically, but what more is there to this game besides that?

Gamin' NEWS! Max Payne 3 continues to look awful

Remember this Max Payne 3 (above)?
Well, there's new infos + some new pics around.

So Rockstar, that already bastardized Red Dead (yeah, yeah.. I know you guys love it, but it doesn't have a thing to do with the arcadysh Red Dead Revolver) into a GTA mod will now be doing the same to the Max Payne series.
Now, listen to me. I wouldn't have a problem with these sequels they're turning into GTA-likes. Hell, if they were turned into original IPs or be spinoffs of GTA I wouldn't.
But they're simply using well known brands, established games that were successful to sell their new games.

Anyway - back to Max - this new game will follow-up the plot some years after MP2, as they said recently.
We'll be able to play with Max at various points, because time will have an impact on plot. A time-bending story?
I'm not sure what they're implying, if it's only the story that will be told in a non-linear way as past Max Payne games. Or if we'll actually affect the past and change the future or something...?

Anyway, here's new pics of an haired Max - that still doesn't look like Max nevertheless.

We'll be able to play with Sam Fisher/Splinter Cell's grandpa? Where's Max?!

Gamin' NEWS! Capcom announces new RE game

Capcom just announced a new Biohazard title, Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon!

It will be a team-based third-person shooter. It appears that the game will primarily be played by two four-person teams, who are competing against each other while simultaneously dealing with zombies and other Bio-Organic Weapons.

The game will offer a number of competitive online multiplayer modes.
Despite the game's cooperative focus, it will be playable in some sort of solo format, as well.

All of these potential modes are to be set in September 1998, covering events within the Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis timeline, but not the one you’re familiar with. Operation Raccoon City is a “reinterpretation” of the events depicted in both games, introducing another T-Virus outbreak in the fabled city and the two new squads: the Umbrella Secret Services and US spec ops.
Oh, and Leon's back apparently.

Raccoon City is slated for a release this winter across the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.

Well...
I knew there was a serious lack of spinoffs lately with this franchise...
Seriously, they used to make a ton more before!

Blog! Lost Planet done! Hooray!

Blog time!
Yay!
Today I finally finished Lost Planet! (the first one) (a videogame on the Xbox 360) (and also available on the PS3) (that's a lot of parentheses)

It only took me 4 years to beat the goshdarn' game! XD

Yeah, I bought it ~4 years ago.
Love it, the atmosphere, the combat, the gameplay, the snowed planet, the giant insectoid monsters.
But then when you reach the end, the game throws out the window all of the gameplay it was based upon and its rules, and then go all the way japanese flying mechas on you....
Hardcore final boss, dude!
So I spent days, litterally days, four years ago trying to beat him...to no success...

Zoom back to ~2 years ago.
I had just bought Bionic Commando on day 1. The modern one.
But before playing it, I decided to finally finish Lost Planet...to no success....
Played hours of it ...And still not able to beat that final boss!!!

Today, I was making some order, having a look back at those modern Capcom games, that if they aren't fighting games, Devil May Cry or Resident Evils pass most of the time overlooked by fanboys and geeks...
Anyway, after playing some Bionic Commando again for fun and thinking about Dark Void, I decided to try a bit of Lost Planet again after all this time.
But I couldn't replay some old (favorite) levels, since it would erase the current checkpoint on the last boss's final form. So I decided to give it a try.
1 hour later...FINALLY!!
BEAT. THIS. GOSHDARN. BOSS!! HOORAY!!

Morality: Difficult games is great, it gives them a fantastic sense of accomplishment once you finally beat the heck out of them.
As frustrating as it is.
*looking at you Ghouls 'n' Ghosts*
(another Capcom game)
(darn, there were a lot of parentheses in this post)
Not as much as in this plathrough Lost Planet!
(You said it buddy!)
BWAHAHAHAHA!!
(BWAHAHAHAHA!! )

Gamin' NEWS! Batman Arkham City new trailer!

Here's a brand new trailer for Batman Arkham City straight from the VGA 2010!

I know everybody's fanboy-ing about this one.
And I loved the original game and all...
This CGi's quite pretty, sure, but I don't see no reason to be crazy about this new video more so than the past trailer! (also revealed at the VGA, in 2009)

It's not like it confirms Nightwing or Robin's appearance or something crazy like that.. Just a mysterious vague trailer with no gameplay whatsover, despite how nice this looks. Plus Hugo Strange's a nice bad guy, but not one of my favorites!...
Badass, sure, but I would have liked more. *not impressed with next gen or gritty stuff*

Deleted Scenes - Ghostbusters 2009 game

One day we'll talk on this blog about Ghostbusters games.
(in the meantime, why don't you check out this post?)

Today I wanted to blog about that recent Ghostbusters game from last year.

This article will be better for you if you played this game!
This game was made by Terminal Reality (published by Atari) as a sort of sequel to the 2nd movie.
It basically used lots of ideas Dan Aykroyd had for the 3rd movie whitout really being that 3rd-would be movie.

Basically since the early 90s, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis tried to make the 3rd movie under various circumstances. First with Bill Murray, then without him, with him and a new bread of ghostbusters (around Chris Farley's death, who was supposed to join them), later in the late 90s, early 2000s...to this day there's still rumours of a Ghostbuster 3 every single year!

At this point I'd rather not have a 3rd movie, specifically if it would only provide something for haters to hate!

Anyway, all the scripts always had similar points. The Ghostbusters would go bigger, having a or new member(s), the threats would become more dangerous, life and death-like and a portal to hell (or some similar "dimension") would be opened.

These ideas were recycled into pretty awesome Ghostbusters comics (hey! that's a good idea for a future review!), a pretty awesome novel (which acts like a 3rd movie better than most of the other things I'm quoting in this page) and a pretty awesome game last year on Xbox360/PS3/Wii/DS.

If you played the game, you've seen how fun and faithful it was.
The "next gen" version and its realistic direction was quite cinematic and had many throwbacks to the classic films.
We faced the Staypuft, saw Viggo hanging around at the homebase, confronted the great mysterious architect finally, set foot again in the Hotel and closed the Ghostbuster's very first case at the Library.

But still, some things were missing?
It's because a lot of stuff got scrapped!

The game had a very strange development (getting canceled, picked up again, changing publishers, etc..)
Mostly Ghostbusters 2 references were cut (ooooh :/ I love that movie too!)

Here's some pics of those deleted scenes straight from some of the developers portfolio pages:

First up!
A jungl-ysh cave!
This looks like it could have taken place in the hotel, around the fight against the spider-ghost.
Or on the island at the second half of the game.

Too bad it didn't make it. The game definitively needed some more tropical backdrops to change a bit from its pretty gritty visual.

Another Hotel scene?
But look at those pics...it's rupturing! It's entering the alternate hellysh dimension!

This looks like something that would have been near the end of the game.
The visual and contrast (calm quite colorful hotel + space breaking through) look like they had worked a lot on that...too bad it was cut...

Ghostbusters 2's famous river of slime!
The game should had more GB2 references :/

The river looks pretty nice.
Looks like something that would have been seen around the underground/subway level.
Or would it have its own level? Like the team going to investigate the recent ghosts invasion and checkin' out below the surface?

And finally, one more to go.
The shrine to Gozer the Gozerian, Gozer the Destructor, Volguus Zildrohar and "Gozer the Traveler" Lord of the Sebouillia!!

I imagine either two ways this famous cult door to make it into the game.
The Staypuft Marshmallowman scene looked sort of rushed/taking place rather quickly.
Maybe he was to be summoned first, old school~
Like they would go on the roof, find the door one more time before the Staypuft actually appearing.
OR
It would be a whole separate later scene. Keeping this time everyone's favorite sailor separated from the door...maybe playing a role around the achitect's new plan/resurrection?

Too bad it was also cut :/
The door opening to the "internal dimension"-effect looks pretty nice (take a look again!)
Plus it was the only way to actually see again the Terror dogs (Vinz Clortho and Zuul) again... :(
I love those demon dogs from hell!

Gamin' NEWS! New game by Toshihiro Nagoshi's team

Who's Toshihiro Nagoshi?
He's one of Sega's most iconic creative forces currently.

His studio ex-Sega AM4/then-Amusement Vision/now-Team CS1 (since they absorbed Smilebit, another ol' Sega studio) was behind the excellent fun series Super Monkey Ball and the ultra popular Yakuza series.

Here's a game for ya!
Follow Nagoshi's evolution from the 90s, through his success with Monkey Ball into his Yakuza series!

Anyway, they just revealed their brand new game with a teaser trailer!
And what will it be?
Another Yakuza?
Monkey Ball's debut for the next gen systems? (if only...)

No...nope... it's...

What?!

Binary Domain will be out on PS3 and Xbox 360 next year.
It seems to be a (pretty random if I may add) 3rd person over-the-top shooter with cliché action characters...
And...
So unexpected...

With his huge successes and lots of money he bring in to Sega, Toshihiro Nagoshi seems to be one of those rare developers who has more creative freedom than any other Sega in-house team leaders...
And he uses it to make this!

Bwahahaha! XD
I kinda already want it!
