#Gaming NEWS! GunLord

It's been a long time since we last had a Dreamcast-related news post around....

The homebrew scene is still keeping the DC very much alive these days.

GunLord is finally available to buy!
It's a classic run'n gun game for the Dream, think Turrican, and is available on disc & cartridges for both Dreamcast and Neo-Geo AES & MVS.

It was developed by the German indie studio NG:Dev.Team  and had been previously announced for this June 14.
It will now be available in a bunch of various versions, even limited and collector, for this Thursday 21. A regular, a limited, a Newcomer Bundle and finally a Double Bundle are available to order! I'll be sure not to miss out the "Dragon Box" version, for the 25.

To order the game, follow this link.

#E3 NEWS! 2nd day recap part 2

Time to check some more M-Rated titles and other violent stuff~
(yeah, I'm trying to group these by themes the best I can... :P)

Have you checked out all these new Dead or Alive 5 videos?
This new episode in this classic fighting game series is shaping up quite nicely - no pun intended.

The newly reformed Team Ninja is working quite hard on keeping the quality up to the series standards while reimagining the series in both its art direction and gameplay. More relastic visually, new chara design, much more impressive graphics and a new game control optimised for both fans and newcomers.
Check out this kickass trailer featuring new faces...

So.. when will get a proper Virtua Fighter Vs. DOA? (personally, I've always been crossing fingers for a Virtua Fighter Vs. Tekken...wait a second... Virtua Fighter X Tekken X DOA anyone??)

I love the new art style, much better!
The gals look great, the dudes kickass!
I'm glad the girls have finally each different facial aspects/structure instead of the copy/paste doll faces from past games.

Here's some more in-game gameplay:

Besides the clown part, I liked to notice how Kasumi finally looks "Asian" now instead of just her former generic anime-self.

~

Fans of the modern Castlevania, rejoins and check out this badass looking sequel to the recent episode:

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2  shown here above in a lil' teaser. But you get the point.
It does imply most of the gameplay. (wave of large group of enemies, etc.)
It seems it will follow the DLC ending which followed itself the game's ending...

And to stay on the subject, here's the trailer for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow: Mirror of Fate:

This spinoff (interquel) will follow the classic "metroidvania" formula of past games.

Though all this business seems to be confusing to follow for the fans. Now the Dracula and Belmont families are officially related and Trevor is Simon's father!

~

Aliens Colonial Marines might be coming later than originally expected or planned...and then delayed...again..and again...and again...
Anyway, things seem to be back on track with now a release date for next February 12 in 2013.

Check out these new pics!

The game will coming up for HD systems as well as upcoming next gen console Wii U!
And, I don't mean to sound strange, but that seems to be the most original version. Having the movement sensor on the controller-screen pad is a genius idea!

The game's looking great!

And they even got copies of what the collector edition will offer at E3:

~

And finally to kick ass this post with style, with - easily for me - the random surprise of this year's E3 of the day.
Star Trek the videogame, apparently.

This would be co-op prequel to the J.J.Abrams Star Trek reboot movie is an upcoming game that will tie up with the new movie coming up in theaters soon.

It does look like a sort of Mass Effect/Uncharted hybrid kind of game, with co-op.
And it's very random.
Oh so random.

So random it will actually feature "The Gorn Hegemony" as enemies. Yes, them!

Chris Pines and Zachary Quinto will reprise their roles from the 2009 film - as Captain James T Kirk and Mr. Spock respectively.

Check this out:

...huh...awesome?

#E3 NEWS! 2nd day recap part 1

Time for a bunch more news and trailers regarding upcoming games!

First up, some actual footage of that ZombiU I posted about yesterday.

The gameplay is looking pretty neat!

It does really looks like a nice mix between Dead Island and Dead Rising, like I wrote yesterday.

And looking quite nice, to boot!

~

It seems the WiiU will be getting mostly late recycled titles. Assasssin's Creed 3, Mass Effect 3 (only 3s? no ME1 or 2?).
I dunno why but I don't imagine a new audience getting the same game later on. I'm pretty sure 99% of people buying ME3 for Wii u will already have play through it = ME fans buying yet another release.
Specially since it's the last part of the story without both ME1 & 2...

Anyway amongst these is a re-re-release of Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition.
Are people still interested in re-getting this one? Specially with the "Game of the Year: Edition" recently, doesn't everyone already own Batman?

The game seems to be mostly identical, besides some gimmicks that will use the controller-screen of the WiiU.
Beside, you can get the game in bargain bins pretty cheap most everywhere, not counting the cheap steam version for PC!

~

On Capcom's side, check out this kickass trailer of the upcoming Lost Planet 3!

~

Omega Force, the guys who made most of the Dynasty Warriors for Koei, and Sword of the Berserk: Guts' Rage for Eido, will be making another Hokuto no ken game!

The original game was mindless fun and pretty cool, but didn't it already cover the entire story?

Simply titled Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage 2 it sounds like more of the same kinda fun.

I can imagine this using inspiration from the "expanded universe" other continuations of the story, though I'd prefer to see some original story like that first Berserk game.

~

Speaking of Omega Force, that isn't all they're up to these days!
A One Piece beat 'em all game is also coming up this one published at Namco.

Though it will be a PS3-only title. (awwww... can we hope for an Xbox port either in the US or here in Europe? pwetty please with sugar on top?)

Dubbed One Piece: Pirate Warriors in the US and not Luffy's Rage like I expected, this One Piece: Kaizoku Musou is coming up for November this year.
And here's a new trailer:

Even though I won't be getting this, it does look pretty good.

~

More coming up in a few!~

#E3 NEWS! 1st day recap part 3

E3 2012 blogposts continue!
Now with more scifi and returning classics!
First up a look at the upcoming Halo 4!
Microsoft said a lot regarding this one. I'm sure everyone's got their own opinion on this game.
I just hope it gets a more science fiction-ysh and interesting story (not just something fanboys notice, but something mind blowing and engaging for everyone!).

Something closer to Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay rather than Quake 3 Arena hopefully - story-wise.

It certainly looks impressive visually!

~

Tomb Raider is back!
Yay!
It's a reboot!
Nay...

Anyways, this new game will take some cues from recent adventure/platformer games such as Assassin's Creed and Uncharted.
More cinematic, it does look quite impressive. I'd have preferred the series to continue on Crystal Dynamic's Legends/Anniversary/Underworld's path. At least we still got them behind the series, right?

It does look stunning!
And quite "Next Gen" if I may say so.

It doesn't look that far from past TR game though. Only sans the jumping around.

~

RE is back with Resident Evil 6!
Tons of new details regarding the new story have surfaced!

The atmosphere seems to draw some inspiration from both past and present RE games.
The game looks graphically gorgeous, much better than the series ever been so far.

New villain, Ada Wong back, Sherry all grown up and it seems we'll get about 6 lead characters this time around!
This one will be out on October 2 for both Xbox 360 and PS3.

~

Activision's Transformers: Fall of Cybertron is back on the frontline with an all-new badass video:

Robots, giant robots, dinosaur robots... And lotsa lasers!
Looks like everything Michael Bay's movie should have been in the first place!

Definitively something worth keeping an eye on.

~

And that's it for this post!

Gamin' NEWS! New #Capcom trailers straight from Captivate 2012

Capcom released some brand new trailers featuring their upcoming new "big" titles, at their very own private Convention, "Captivate 2012".
Check this out for some zombies, snow action and devils that might be crying...
First up his Resident Evil 6, finally revealed thanks to this (second) trailer!

RE6 which is looking quite promising so far.
Looking great and sheduled for October 2.
Amongst the new tidbits, it seems that the young Sherry Birkin from RE2 is making a comeback!

Check this out:

Looking nice! B)
Can't wait!
Expect this one for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

~

Next up is a surprise Lost Planet 3!

Whoaa... I wasn't expecting this one :P
I still have yet to play LP2, but I loved LP1, so I'm all for it.

This one's aimed for mid-2013. It's a return to the snowy planet, with a prequel story taking place before LP1. Exactly what fans were originally expecting from LP2, since everything seemed to point out that the story should focus on the father of the original game's protagonist at some point to explore the early days of the "lost planet".

Developed externally at Spark Unlimited.

Check this out:

Color me intrigued!

~

And last but not least, it's the return of Capcom's Devil May Cry series, I series, I'll confess, I never tried until now but will probably catch on with the recently released "HD Collection" - with the "rebooted" DmC: Devil May Cry by the talented Ninja Theory studio (Enslaved).

I know fanboys are gonna rage about this one, but this feels pretty mysterious and intriguing. It might actually be quite a fun title!
Gameplay wise it does look great.
The story will either be some meta self-referential parody of the series or something gritty/emo-ysh.

Anyways, something worth keeping an eye on.

~

And that is all.
I was expecting some info regarding Dead Rising 3 as well, but without luck...

Gamin' NEWS! here's 2 new Binary Domain trailers

Sega just released a new cinematic CGi trailer for their upcoming action-3rd person shooter Binary Domain:

And one more about the weapons:

This title developed by Yakuza and Monkey Ball creator at the Sega Ryû Ga Gotoku Studiois sheduled for a February 24 release date.

Exploring and fighting in Toyko, 2080, looks like a fun job.
I can't wait to try this over-the-top game, looks fun so far!

Gamin' NEWS! This doesn't look very Max Payne-ysh to me...

As a matter of fact...

Man.. I still don't really like the direction of all this, no matter how good or fun it might turn out to be...
Why didn't they improvise a new IP simply`???....

Gamin' NEWS! Hitman news and, hey, remember Binary Domain?

Here's some little updates on upcoming games of interest.

Gosh, I sound so smart when I want to.

First of all, finally some gameplay of the upcoming new Hitman game Hitman: Absolution.

I absolutely love this series.
It kinda disappear off track, so I'm guessing most of the current gaming generations has no idea what these games are like.
Always loved the interactivity, the rich and interesting universe/gameplay of the series. Where you could plan a dozen scenarios to execute your "contracts".
This one's still developed by series creator IO Interactive. (unlike Core Design with the Tomb Raider series, another classic from Eidos)

Check it out:

This one's coming somewhen in 2012.

And what's more to it, there's already rumors of yet another Hitman up next coming on the shelves.
Square Enix have already basically confirmed it, somehow.
You see, since Square Enix is barely selling games these days, and since they also acquired  Eidos alongside all their old franchises, they confirmed their plan to develop ten strong franchises.
And a copyright just showed up recently:

It seems another game starring Agent 47's coming, this one titled Hitman: Profession.
Probably developed either by another studio or back in intern at Square Enix.

Either way, I'm not liking much the idea.
That's like, with the upcming Max Payne 3 at Rockstar. Imagine another game coming up, this one's developed by Remedy. Which one would you be the most awaiting for? The "fake one", cash-in, developed by the publisher to make money on one of their ips, with a new direction, radical shift in the presentation and tone...or the other one coming up from the series' creators?

~

Anyways, here's something else.
Remember Binary Domain?
That random over-the-top 3rd person shooter from Monkey Ball and Yakuza creator?

Sega just released another trailer for it finally!

This one's coming up around February 24.
It's looking great, probably one of the sleeper hits of the year. (and by hit I mean fun playing good looking enjoyable game, not "money-selling" hit...)

Gamin' NEWS! Survival horror, ahoy!

It's time to check out some news regarding upcoming Survival Horror titles~
First up, the classic franchise Resident Evil will be back with the new installment Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City!

I'm glad to see so many familiar faces!

Awesome! Glad too this shaping up nicely^^

Also, yay! The "real" Jill Valentine! I missed her^^

Carlos' got a brand new face it seems. And HUNK!! Heck Yeah!!

This co-op squad-based shooter is looking sharp, for a release date on March 20 next year.

~

Next up, a newcomer!

Amy is another upcoming survival horror, a more classic one developed by a fresh new French-based studio. VectorCell is developing and the title will be published by Lexis Numerique. (in most of EU at least).

Unlike the recent Resident Evils by Capcom, the approach is less focused on action (which is a great thing!) and more on tension and suspense, and horror itself.

And what is exactly this title's own gimmick (like most iterations of the genre tend to do)?
Amy will mix dark survival horror with one long cooperative escort mission.
The traditional zombies will, of course, be part of the threat here, once again.

Story wise it's settings take place in 2034. Lana, our main character, is (and I quote:) "a gal that is starting to turn zombie from a space virus that crashed into her home town. She gets help with her condition from an unlikely partner, an eight-year-old autistic girl named Amy. When Amy is around, the inner zombie calms down."

Here's a trailer which showcases the gameplay. Fighting won't be the main aspect here for a change. Stealth and careful planning will be the key word here.

And one more, an earlier trailer:

And the original trailer from this august:

So far it's looking great!
The camera looks a tad awkward for now, and the gameplay's a bit stiff, but the developing team's a bit rough so far and I'm sure the more concerning problems will be fixed in time no doubt.
The game will be out next year on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3!

Sega NEWS! HOTD: Overkill ladies

House of the Dead: Overkill because more Grindhouse than it already was on this new Special Edition on the PS3:

What is that? A new story/campaign featuring these kickass ladies?
And the game's still embraces it's over-the-top crazy atmosphere.
Gotta love it!

Though I do not own a PS3 (and already own the Wii collector release from way back)

Gamin' NEWS! Marios, Sonics, Fighters and Transformers!

Doctor Rosen is not amused.

Here's a new bunch of gaming news.
Today's program, Marios, Sonics, Fighters and Transformers!
Also enjoy my all-new random NEWS! pics. I updated the only one I had (Toby "The Rat" Maguire) and made some new ones to shuffle things up a bit.
Only the best for ya all!
First of all, let's start with a new trailer for the upcoming Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games: London 2012.
Sega & Nintendo just announced this game will feature a new and original party game mode. Sort of a Mario Party X Sonic Shuffle if you will, for connoisseurs.
Check out the Party Mode in the following trailer:

Looks like a fair addition, if they want this 3rd Olympic installment to demarcate from its predecessors.

Street Fighter X Tekken gets a release date, March 6 for the US and March 9 for most of Europe (yay!) and a collector edition!

This collector will include a “Build-It-Yourself Arcade Cabinet Bank” that’s about five inches high, a comic prequel by UDON, in-game gems which will act as currency and serve to unlock/update stuff for your game (à la Marvel Vs. Capcom series). It was confirmed for PS3 and 360 only.

Here's a new trailer from the NY Comic-con, illustrating the new features and more:

I already can smell some haters complaining about this Gems-feature from miles....

And finally, you saw the announcement of a new Transformers game, now here's the actual launch teaser trailer for Transformers: Fall of Cybertron:

Stuff hinted, which I'm sure Transformers fans will no doubt dissect and analyze from scratch to bottom.

And that is all~

The Hardcore Gamer

This video's been circulating the web already.
Here's a guy who might be a way bit too much into arcade games :P

Well, rail shooters are indeed awesome experiences.
At least it's a Sega arcade game, amIrite? *self-high five - everybody stares me at work..*

Gamin' NEWS! New Transformers game

It was announced today, through Game Informer that the guys behind the game Transformers: War for Cybertron will be releasing a sequel to that previous title next year, under the name Transformers: Fall of Cybertron.

Now, honestly I'm not a big Transformers fan and knows next to nothing relating to this franchise.
Even though, I got to admit the original Transformers had a certain charm that is totally lacking from Micheal Bay's Hollywood movies. Be it the simpler and yet more understable designs, the robot characters actually looking like characters and different from one another, etc..
(yeah, I hate those awful boring complex CGi designs, were you can only make out 3-4 "good" Autobots transformers and then all the others look the same from one another, big messy grey-ysh over-detailed designs..)

Activision and High Moon Studio will introduce new ideas and concepts, alongside new characters in this new installment. It will probably play similar, that is, 3rd person action-shooter.

Anyway, it will surely be better than any of those past movie-Transformers games..

Dinobots!!

And if all this didn't convince you, there will probably be another perfectly Transformers-ysh tune for the new game...
Like what the epic Stan Bush did for the previous one:

Gamin' NEWS! two old franchises are brought back

Let's check out the new videos just freshly released to two completely different long forgotten franchises brought back to life with our current modern technology.
And I'm speaking of Sega's SHINOBI and Rockstar's MAX PAYNE!
Here's a brand new Japanese trailer for Shinobi 3D from Sega.
The game's sheduled for November 17 in Japan, and a bit earlier (!!) on Nobember 11 in this part of the world, on 3DS.

Looking a bit nicer and better in motion than what we saw in earlier screenshots.
This game developed by Griptonite Games will tie-in both the earlier 16-bits Shinobi featuring Joe Musashi and the PS2 games featuring Hotsuma with a plot revolving around Joe's father (and protagonist this time around).

It seems the game will be a return to a more arcade-ysh direction, content to unlock, lots of platforming, etc..

Meanwhile, Rockstar Games just released this trailer for the upcoming Max Payne 3:

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, but as an old school fan of the Max Payne series and a hardcore fan at that, this isn't looking much promising to me. (see my earlier Max Payne 3-related posts for more on that...)

But, yeah.. so tired of the "Open world sandbox games are kids favorite genre these day so let's make another one and stick a well known IP on it to boost the sales"...
At least, it looks nice graphically, but what more is there to this game besides that?

Thursday, September 15, 2011

Gamin' NEWS! Good: Segas, Bad: DOAs, Ugly: Payne...

And here's some new news regarding upcoming games, straight from this year's TGS!
Also, other miscellaneous information.
First up, Sega shows some more of its upcoming titles.

Like Sonic Generations.
I already posted lots of stuff regarding this return in form to the Sonic series. But so few info about the handheld 3DS port. Let's check it out!

And it looks fantastic!
A good alternative to the main systems HD version for sure!
And it will even have some bonus content like Sonic 3's Mushroom Hill Zone!
Nice^^

And here's a look at Madworld's pseudo-sequel, Anarchy Reigns!
The solo/storymode to be precise, which will actually really act as a sequel to Madworld:

Cool stuff.
The game will be out in January, next year. And it's nice to see again all these faces back from Madworld, Jack, the Baron, etc...
Though I miss Madworld's creative art style. (in black and white, no colors thank you~)

Meanwhile at the TGS, Tecmo revealed the upcoming new entry in their long-running classic fighting game series, Dead or Alive 5!

This game will mark the first DOA entry without series creator Tomonobu Itagaki on board.
(well, second if you count that PSP port of one of the "minigames party" DOA...hum..)
Good... bad... Only time will tell.
Also,  with fighting games being all popular these last couple of years + finally a multi-console DOA, I'm guessing this game will be the starting point for many newcomers to the series.

Here's the trailer...

Looks cool..as far as early in-game gameplay footage go.
Dynamic cameras, really? Or was it just for show in this video?

Graphically it doesn't look that far from DoA 4... Wait and see!
And here's a teaser poster, worry not the gals will be back too:

The title is planned for a 2012 release on 360 and PS3.

And in case you forgot about Tecmo/Team Ninja's other successful franchise, the Ninja Gaiden series will also be brought back Itagaki-less in the aptly named Ninja Gaiden 3.

And this time no "Sigma" since this game will be simultaneously released on Xbox 360 AND PS3!

Finally, let's have a look at Rockstar ruining another game series I like.
I know, I know...there's lots of R* fans out there...
I already went large in details why I didn't like what they do to games nowadays, specially regarding a little game I liked in the past.
I know lots of kids think they're game are all cool and mature (hint: violence+bllod =/= mature, that's what kids think, not what the reality is for adults). But I'm so tired of their GTA-ization of non-GTA games...

ANYWAYS!
Here's Max Payne 3. A game that looks and feels nothing like both previous Max Panye games co-developed by 3DRealms and Remedy. Which was a noir-esque action movie-like experience.
Turned into a mindless cover-shooter based GTA-like generic mainstream title:

You know what? I could have easily accepted this new game if it was something new and original. And different IP.
Like this it just looks like they're trying to sell their random new product under a familiar and liked name....
Kinda how it would be if their last game, L.A.Noir, had been called, say, "Streets of Rage 4" for example.

Gamin' NEWS! Chainsaws, lollipops and nightmares

Here's a new round of video game trailers~
Today, Chainsaws, lollipops and nightmares!!
First, here's Grasshopper Manufacture's latest venture.

It's called Lollipop Chainsaw!
Random! Yep! That's why it might actually be fun.
It's another crazy idea from the mind of creative director Suda51.

mock up cover.

It looks like a big budget Oneechanbara. A B-movie-like gaming series of hack'n'slash games.
This game looks similar in spirit and gameplay (but will surely control better and smoother).
Though as fun as it looks it lacks kinda of Oneechanbara grindhouse/cheesy tone. Lollipop Chainsaw seems only to feature the same content/theme and not the same "tone" if that makes sense.

Here's a recent interview:

I have to admit, at first I wasn't much interested in it. But it could turn out great!

And at SEGA, here's another horror-themed game.
This one, the only Xbox "Kinect" game that have had me interested in this gimmick controller:

Very fun lil' trailer^^
Rise of Nightmares seems to be an unofficial new entry in the House of the Dead series. (though, why didn't Sega use that ip? it looks, sounds and plays the same as HoD! and it's a marketable name who'd even boost some sales in the long term I'm sure!)

And that's it for the day, for now~

Monday, September 5, 2011

Gamin' NEWS! that other Aliens game

So, some Aliens, probably even some of you guys, are awaiting for Aliens: Colonial Marines for Xbox 360, PC and PS3, right?
But surely, not a lot of you know that there's another Aliens game coming up for around the same time.

This one called Aliens: Infestation and developed by WayForward Technologies! (also getting published by Sega)
Now, WayForward is a company I really dig. They're one of the few studios left that is still able to work with beautiful 2D sprites, and make some great fun arcad-ysh titles. And I'm not speaking of all the lousy flash-like games people rush on the Xbox live or for Iphones, I'm speaking of beautifully animated real sprites, old school! Their more mainstream titles include Contra 4 or that DS Thor tie-in game.
But I prefer to mention their awesome gorgeous A Boy and His Blob remake on the Wii, Batman: The Brave and the Bold – The Videogame or Shantae.

This Aliens game is done like your typical old school 16-bits action shooter. Some call it a throwback to the Contra series.
I prefer to say, it looks similar or even inspired by that old awesome Alien 3 game.
It is set for September 30. (in most countries)

Here's some gameplay:

ALIENS: INFESTATION par SEGA

You'll be able to recruit and play as a bunch of various Marines through the game. The goal will be obviously to face hordes of Xenomorphs, while traveling across memorable sceneries from the movies such as the USS Solaco and more!

SEGA News! Various titles and Sonic

Here's some news concerning upcoming Sega games!
First up a little trailer for Renegade Ops. A top-down action game sheduled for September:

It's beind developed by new partner Avalanche Studios.
There will be a lot of various vehicles to play with, playable up to 4 players... Lots of missions to go through, etc...

Looks decent to me!
Reminds me of good ol' fashioned arcade games.

Here's some new screens of Griptonite Games take on the Shinobi franchise!

This one's sheduled for November 11 on Nintendo 3DS.
It looks...well honestly not that great. Though in motion, it seems it will be better.
It reminds me of how early PSP games looked like. Hope it's at least half as fun as those~

Speaking of 3DS, here's some new screens of CRUSH 3D.

This pseudo-Sequel/Remake is still being developed by PSP's Crush developers, Zoë Mode.
This great and fun 2D/3D hybrid platformer is aimed to a later February 17 release date.

And finally, Sonic Generations!
First, some pics of the classic "Mushroom Hill" stage from Sonic & Knuckles, reimagined for the 3DS portable version of Generations:

Woah! I'm getting all so nostalgic! :)
Looking great there^__^

And now a new trailer, letting us glimpse at some new locations amongst the already revealed levels.
Amongst them...could it be... Sonic Heroes' first stage Seaside Hill, Spagonia from Sonic Unleashed.. and more!

Two Sonics! Two Tails! Time travel!

Even love the music there :'3
Retro-ysh, in a sort of modern way~
