Blog entry01

Warning: Text!

Here's something different.
Talks about recent stuff on my mind.

So I went to see that Freddy remake by Platinum Dunes, that small studio Micheal Bay created for making modern horror movies.
A Nightmare on Elm Street! Like previous remakes from the same studio, Friday the 13th or the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, it takes itself more seriously than the originals and with a more "modern" dark approach. But for Freddy it works a bit less, since the characters are supposed to have terrible nightmares and be killed there... It wasn't as imaginative as the latter Freddy movies, but since it was supposed to be a remake of only the first one, it thought it was okay.

Decent movie, I'll rank it up with the TCM remake, but my favorite of these so far still is the new Friday the 13th, because it the was funniest and more entertaining! Also for a slasher film, Jason was taken as, well, as a Slasher! Fun kills, fun "monster"!
Freddy was a bit too serious, not trying too much with either kills or dream sequences..
I still find the modern Halloween movie by Rob Zombie to be the worst.... That one was a great Rob Zombie flick, but a very poor Halloween flick! Micheal wasn't a frightening killer born from a normal family/society on a calm neighborhoo, but a product of a bad education/situation... And the film dragged on a bit in the later part.

Anyway that's for what I went to see yesterday, Nightmare on Elm Street!

In the row in front of us, watching the movie at the theatres, there was the most scared and sensible group of teens I've ever seen! The movies wasn't that scary. Hell, I watched so many horror/slasher films, I'm probably too detached from seeing people killed on the big screen now : P
Anyway, that group was screaming/jumping everytime Freddy/his hand/his face appeared on screen and whenever someone would get killed a dude was screamin' like a girl XD
Best part of the movie probably!

Before the flick, there were the traditional annoying advertisments.
Do you guys get those in America as well? Or more trailers/teasers thant ads?
Anyway we had the PREDATORS trailer!
Pretty darn' epic to see at the theatres!
I'm pretty motivated and hyped for Rodriguez' PREDATORS now!

And that horrible A-Team movie!... OH god...
It's like, someone decide to make an A-Team movie adaptation trailer only...
They made all those random scenes, the one liners, that awful Tank falling from a plane scene (did you watch it?) probably without thinking anymore than "Hey! This would make a pretty awesome trailer, duuuude!!"
And since the trailer aired, they're probably making the scenes to connect those and make the full movie!

Anyways, that's the impression I got from a trailer like this!
I mean, you got guys giggling randomly in one scene, the "You look like you got a...real bad attitude", the chesty naked-torso guy...
It looks over the top-bad! The Charlie's Angels were over the top too, but fun!

And what's with all those adaptations/remakes/reboots/sequels/prequels nowadays?! Were are the original ideas? What The Ghostbusters/Back to The Future/Star Wars/Ferris Bueller/Beverly Hills Cop were to the 70s/80s but for the 2000s/2010s?!
Now all we have are 80s TV shows adaptations like A-Team, a future Spider-man reboot, an X-men prequel, more comics adaptation, horror movie remakes, decade old sequels instead of any original idea...

It looks like all good writers are either writing comics or TV shows now and the one who got the more out of the 2007 Writer strike are the ones making bad screenplays for theatres!

On another note, I've been playing Super Street Fighter 4 again, I kinda left it aside for a while.
Now I'm gonna try master-ing Juri/Makoto/Ibuki/and maybe Dan.
Once you have your hands on a fighter, it's always good to master a select few characters. Either 2 or 3.

And when I turned on my Xbox, what a nice surprise it was to see the new Rocket Knight game was available! I only took the demo. I'll get the full game later on, on one of those Konami compilations (group of 3 games each disc) they've been releasing for the Xbox 360, with a bunch of Xbox live arcade games on it.

I like the demo so far!
I'm a huuuuuuuge fan of the original Rocket Knight Adventure game on Megadrive.
The two sequels, Sparkster on the SNES and the different Sparkster on MD were both ok in my book.
But this new Rocket Knight is pretty good and takes a lot more inspiration on the original!
(such as the music, visual universe, Sparkster's very own blonde hair from the sequels as disappeared and the attacks are more based on the first game too)
I really liked the look, music and feel of this new installement in thie forgotten franchise!
And this game actually looks good over what Dimps has been making for the so-called Sonic 4. Go either full 3D with beautiful graphics or 2D hand drawn for 2D modern platformers! Not pre-rendered CG!!! NEVER!!

Anyway, that's a pretty long-ass post for this morning.

See ya around~
