#E3 NEWS! Random guest start for Sonic Transformed

It seems Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed will get an even more random guest that the previous game (Banjo & Kazooie for the Xbox 360 version of Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing)....

Sega of America announced the "real life" guest Danica Patrick - a pro Nascar driver - will be racing alongside de likes of Joe Musashi and Vyse.

Since she's pretty much literally unknown in Europe, people are guessing she might be absent from our Pal release of the game...nothing confirmed yet.
Anyway, she'll be joining the roster of the game alongside her own racing car. She's gonna start participating to the game's marketing, starting November 3 with a Sonic themed Nascar.

Danica has posted this tweet recently:
SO excited to be at ‪#E3‬ for @sega and sonic the hedgehog! Come say hi at the ‪#segae3‬booth! ‪#sonicracingtransformed‬
Nobody saw this coming, heh? :P
So I guess this means we can get "real" characters...like Segata Sanshiro perhaps...?

Does this mean she'll represent SEGA ip Daytona USA in-game?

#SEGA NEWS! Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed announced!

Sega finally officially announced the Sega All-Stars Racing sequel.
Only it's dropping the Sega in the title and will now be titled Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed!
Let's check it out~

First of all, like the more recent Mario Karts (the one on the Gamecube) or some Donkey Kong racing games, it's adding some gimmicks to the gameplay.

I'm not sure how I actually feel about it. I mean, the classic kart formula was perfect to me. They didn't need to add stuff like that... Oh well.
Like the "transformed" part implies, the vehicles will be able to transform depending on the circuit's environment. That is, the "cars" will now transform into planes or boats according to where the road will lead you.

Well executed, it might work enough. But one or two gameplay problems and it might give the game sluggish controls...

The game is supposedly coming out this year on almost all platforms, PS3, 360, PC, Vita, 3DS,etc...
Sumo Digital is still on this one.
This new title will offer 16 brand new races, from Sonic levels to Panzer Dragoon and even Shibuya (Jet Set Radio!).
New characters will count at least  Vyse from Skies of Arcadia and Gilius Thunderhead from Golden Axe!
The game will also feature a Story mode of some sorts.

Here's some pics:

And a trailer already!

No Wii? Probably for Wii-U then, a launch title no doubt.

I'm a big Sega fan at heart, so I'm a lot more interested in this new Sega crossover than, say, a Sony or Nintendo one.

Honestly? Not feeling much the new transformable vehicles. At best it might be passable, at worst it will be just plain annoying and gimmicky. Making this new game more easier forgettable than the previous one...

Well, let's hope they'll use some ideas from that Art Jam I organized some years ago! :P

Sega NEWS! All-Stars Racing 2 announcement imminent

The rumors have all but been confirmed by now, a new Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing 2 game is coming up soon!

A listing for the game appeared online on some websites, but Sega took them down.
They're probably waiting to announce the news themselves, via a surprise trailer or something. (this summer at E3?)

But we won't have to wait much it seems, since it is sheduled for a November 30th 2012 release date apparently.
The game will be coming out on the PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii.

I'm crossing fingers for random and underused Sega licenses, like Nintendo did with the Ice Climbers and Earthbound in Smash Bros.

My pick? ToeJam & Earl, Rent-A-Hero, Pengo and Monster World! :P

Cartoon NEWS! Green Lantern: First Pic

Haha...silly pun...

Anyway, here's the very first pic of Green Lantern's new upcoming animated movie.
Or movies, since Green Lantern: Emerald Knights will be this time a compilation of animated shorts, much like Batman: Gotham Knight was.
Only this time they'll keep an unified look and won't use a japanese animation look.

It will be out on June 17, just in time for the live movie.

But wait!
That's not all nor the best news.
Hal Jordan will be voiced by Nathan Fillion, who honestly sounds like a much better choice than Ryan Reynolds to me.

Also don't miss out All-Star Superman, out in 2 weeks on February 22!

Cartoon NEWS! All Star Superman date

A recent ad revealed a lot of details about the upcoming new DC Animated Original Movie, but thanks to the press release today, we know now all the details about the future release next year!

Click for larger view!

All-Star Superman will be out on Feb. 22, 2011.
It's based on a Grant Morrison story arc. The All-Star line was made for authors to play with the characters and what they represent separated from all continuity issues.
Morrison's story is a fantastic tribute to the silver age and the whole Superman legacy.

Here's the official synopsis:
"Fueled by hatred and jealousy, Lex Luthor masterminds an elaborate plot to kill the Man of Steel – and it works. Poisoned by solar radiation, Superman is dying. With weeks to live, he fulfills his life’s dreams – especially revealing his true identity to Lois Lane – until Luthor proclaims his ultimate plan to control the world with no alien hero to stop him. Powers fading, Superman engages in a spectacular deadly battle with Luthor that could truly trigger the end of Earth’s Greatest Protector. This startling and gripping DC Universe Animated Original Movie stars the voice talents of James Denton, Anthony LaPaglia, Christina Hendricks and Ed Asner."

The movie will come on both DVD and Bluray, with a special edition as well.
It doesn't seem like...gasp..there will be any new Shorts this time...??
They plan to only release those on compilations now? Or worse, they've been canceled??

Here's the list of the special features for the double-disc edition:
· Sneak Peek at Green Lantern: Emerald Knights, the next DC Universe Animated Original PG-13 Movie
· Featurette: “Superman Now” – In a moment of inspiration, Grant Morrison was provided an opportunity to revamp the Man of
Steel into something modern, something more relevant for today’s audience. This is the story of All-Star Superman – where it all
started, and what it came to be
· Two bonus episodes from Superman: The Animated Series handpicked by Bruce Timm.

The bluray will add:
· Featurette: “Incubating the Idea” – A conversation with Grant Morrison
· Audio Commentary: Bruce Timm and Grant Morrison
· All-Star Superman Virtual Comic Book

What's the new details to keep from all that?
The feature film will be an approximate 75 minutes.
There will be a sneak peak at Green Lantern: Emerald Knights, the next DC Universe Animated Original Movie.
The Blu-ray will have a "conversation with Grant Morrison" as well as audio commentary by Timm and Morrison and an All-Star Superman digital comic book.

And here's some pictures of both covers:

Superman saves a life

This story has already been shown around other (better) blogs and forums, but I wanted to post it anyway.

This was a letter someone wrote to DC Comics:

(Panels from the actual comic for those who missed it~)

...

This is why I love Grant Morrisson's writing and Superman in general.
One of everyone's favorite scene from the All-Star Superman.
This better not be cut from the animated movie that will be released early next year :/
(that and the Bizarro world sequence...)

Movie NEWS! All Star SUPERMAN

It's here finally!
What? More news on yet another DC Original Animated Movie!
All-Star Superman, an amazing "Ultimate"-like retelling of Superman's universe by the fantastic Grant Morrisson and artist Frank Quitely will be the next DC animated movie.
I've been loving most (if not all) of these movies Warner Bros animation has been putting out. (and honestly, some of them could have easily been shown in theatres, with a little extra polish in post-production).

First off here's the casting:
JAMES DENTON - -  Superman
CHRISTINA HENDRICKS - - Lois Lane
ANTHONY LAPAGLIA - - Lex Luthor
ED ASNER - - Perry White
FRANCES CONROY - - Ma Kent
Well, most of it anyway. A quick google search shows me they could just have easily been the cast for a live adaptation, they all look and sound the part!

And now the trailer:

Quietly art style doesn't translate as easily as Ed McGuinness'.
But it looks amazing so far! :)

The release date is for February 22, 2011, that means, the next movie after Superman/Batman Apocalypse.
