From this year's 2011 Tokyo Game Show!
It's time for yet another video game update blog post!
This time featuring Nintendo trailers and some familiar Monkey returning yet once again.
First up, let's check out Nintendo's all new trailer for their upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword!
Nintendo doesn't do much CGi trailers usually, so it's always nice to give a look at such video for one of their titles.
I missed a couple Zelda games, so I'll be playing this around 2015 probably (ha! retro gamers don't fear delays in their "planning"!)
And here's a gameplay trailer showcasing some new mechanics and features:
Looks fun!
It will be released the 20 November on the Wii.
And now, here's a look at Nintendo's mascot upcoming title. This one's on the 3DS instead, for November too, Super Mario 3D Land:
This video's from the press conference.
All in all, Super Mario 3D Land looks like a pretty neat entry. I'm more itnerested in playing this than any of the Mario Sunshine/Galaxy/2 that I missed.
I dunno, but the mix of 2D sidescrolling + simpler 3D platformer has really a nice touch to it. Sure, both Mario Galaxy games might be good games but I'd rather go for something simpler without the planetoids gimmick. (yeah, call me old school if you want!)
Meanwhile, Kirby returns in the appropriately named Kirby's Return to Dream Land on the Wii later this year.
This new game will be a return to basics after a more original entry earlier this year.
Awesome!
I haven't played any Kirby game since the (two) original game(s) on the classic Game Boy waaaay back.
Might give it a try!
(plus, I can't get enough of all these recent sidescrollers lately!)
Luigi will be back in his own spinoff, in this sequel to the Gamecube launch title. This time on 3DS as well.
(note to self: might need to end up buying a 3DS at some point...)
Luigi's Mansion 2's looking great so far! :D
And finally, looking at the other side of the fence.
Sega will bring the series Super Monkey Ball back to the scene, with an all-new entry this time for Sony's new handheld system, the PS Vita:
Great recommended hybrid platformer/puzzle series! If you got a system on which there's a Monkey Ball, I can't recommend trying one of these games. The puzzles are often quite interesting and always make you scratch your brain on later levels.
And that is all for this time~
