And we know now that like Bryan Singer scrapped second movie, it would had also featured Doomsday as Supers' enemy!
I told you Doomsday was all the rage back then to this very day! (that 6 movie plan during the 90s from which only Steel was made, the videogame and cartoon adaptation in the 2000s, his appearance in Bruce Timm cartoon, in Smallville these last years, etc...)
Anyway, we know many details about Tim Burton's various takes on Superman. At some point Kevin Smith worked on an early draft (which he goes on lenghty details in his Evening with.. stand up show), Nicolas Cage was supposed to star as Superman himself during one of its various forms (the mid-90s rewrite probably) and now we also know Doomsday was considered as villain...

The direction they were taking was pretty...unusual. (well not more than Superman's disco suit), anyway here's the new pics so far, from the pre-production set:
