Why were Gambit and Rogue even paired in the X-men comics, back in the 80s/90s?
I mean, Gambit's waz supposed to be le player, oui?
And Rogue wasn't da kind o' gal ta be interested in this kinda guy, right?
What convinced the writers/creative team on the X-men back then to pair those two and have Gambit "stuck" with a gal he wouldn't never, ever be able to touch or Rogue "stuck" with this charmeur she couldn't even trust in any way.
You know what? I think it's the accents. Pairing those two sounded like pretty fun comedy in the waiting.
It was even more apparent in the cartoon, once animated and above all, voiced.
See...
They're hilarious!!
And damn! This ol' cartoon looked fantastic, almost like seeing ol' original X-Men artwork animated for real, unlike most modern Marvel shows which all take original routes in the art direction.
