Here's a little segment from a recent Saturday Night Live show that The Amazing Spider-Man star Emma Stone hosted.
It also features a random guest appearance from Andrew Garfield!
Check it out:

VGR PaRappa Rappa
As a Sega fan, I tend to have a longer history with Sega games and consoles. Even so, that never stopped me from playing other games "on the other side of the fence".
Since people have been asking me to review some good Playstation games over on deviantArt, I decided to give it a shot with an all-time classic...
From NanaOn-Sha/Sony
Played on PSX
Type Musical game
Year 1996
What is PaRappa the Rapper I hear you ask.
I mean, those of you way too young to have known the phenomenon he became during such a short time.
The game was the breakthrough title developed by NanaOn-Sha.
It's a studio founded by game designer and musician Masaya Matsuurain 1993.
They were also responsible for that other unique music game series Vib-Ribbon. And more recently they collaborated with Zoë Mode on their first adventure game (non-musical) Haunt.
PaRappa Rappa is actually the first "real" modern rhythm game.
It has quite a unique design to it (more on that below), uses animal mascots which were so often the norm for games in the 90s and all songs are in English (as well as the story itself) in all version of the game!
The story is one of the more relatables there is.

I gotta believe!~
The story is one of the more relatables there is.
It's the story of a guy, a girl and some problems he learns to deal with (including the local douche bag).
PaRappa is this hip hop dog, you see.
He's in love with Sunny Funny, but she seems to ignore him.. But they're made for each other! If only he could get her to notice him. This egomaniac rich guy Joe Chin is certainly not helping the whole thing.
So PaRappa on his journey to her heart, learns to fight in a dojo, crashes his dad's car, works to get some cash, learns his license, bake a cake, take a bathroom break and ends up rapping on stage.
Throughout this adventure he is accompanied by his pals PJ Berry and Katy Kat. He learns to deal with real life situations through rap with various mentors, including the famous Chop Chop Master Onion.
The game is almost educational, inspirational I want to say.
PaRappa raps through all situations, you'll remember for all time that to drive you need to Step on the gas or also that you need to keep your kitchen in check while cooking Put the cake in the oven for a while! Leave it there, come on, clean the pile!
PaRappa's motto is "I Gotta Believe!" afterall.
There might be this Joe Chin in his path, but things will work out in the end as long as he stays positive and focused!
The game plays like a digital "Simon Sez".
Basically said, the gameplay consists of QTE sequences you need to memorize/answer to.
For example the first stage will assign X for kick and SQUARE for punch.
By pushing the correct buttons as indicated. The music will keep you in tempo, you need to have both the correct action and follow the rythm to work through the various segments.
The game starts easy enough but will quickly get more and more challenging both in the sequences as well as the timing.
You win points for style, if you do good you will keep your U rappin' GOOD ranking. Missing notes/vocals will make it go off, for BAD and AWFUL (and Game over!).
Once the levels are finished you can replay them, go freestyle to deviate into the COOL rating!
The game isn't all perfect though, there's some missync problems and the difficulty is quite hardcore (you need to be perfect sometimes, and learn the darn' buttons perfectly).
The game isn't very long though. It's only six stages long.
Maybe a bit short if you ask me, but it's pure arcade fun!
There are four teachers, so therefore there are 5 styles of rapping.
PaRappa is quite the boss, perfectly able to adapt to various styles, from reggae to pop, house and even some old school!
The music is simply catchy, memorable!
The characters look all great and just as memorable.
The art style was done by Rodney Greenblat (check out his website!), an US graphic artist who's quite popular in Japan.
The characters are all done in flat 2D, which contrasts great with the 3D world they inhabit. The population seems to feature so many random faces from cartoon dogs, cartoon frogs, even cartoon objects such as hammers, flowers, etc.
The game is just pure fun!
Well-written, acted and sung. Excellent voice acting all around.

Featuring stunning graphics, which I find timeless thanks to the mix 2D/3D.
You can replay the game over and over. Once it's over you can either aim for the high scores, or try getting all the COOL ranks. Which unlock an alternate ending plus a (tiny) bonus song.
Overall, it's a fantastic catchy entertaining game!
A true pioneer of the whole musical genre.
You will love it even if you don't like rap!
It sure was more original than what the genre offers today in the countless dull and generic Rock bands, Guitar hero, Singstars and all of their clones...
6 stages long, hours of fun and replay value thanks to its high quality.
What's not to love about "paper doll" cartoony singing characters!?

#Gaming NEWS! Amazing Spider-Man trailer
And here's a trailer for the upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man game based on the movie of the same name:
This looks like....another one of those bargain bins-games :P
Sure it might look nice, but in the end, it will no doubt be quite dull and repetitive.

#Marvel NEWS! New The Amazing Spider-Man trailer!
With Avengers out, and Dark Knight Rises well on its way, it's Sony Picture's turn with their own Amazing Spider-Man by Marc Webb.
I almost forgot about this one.
I wasn't really interested in it so far, because of an ugly Lizard and a bad casting (IMO).
But then, this pic of Curt Connors!Lizard sporting his classic labcoat (above) and the following happened:
Wow!
Just... wow!
Looking pretty good.
Pretty, pretty, pretty good.
I can even look past this Garfield-guy as Peter Parker, the weird plot point ("Peter's parents...") and the new weird looking Spider-suit. This just looks really fun!
And he quips, he swings and hits the mark!
Looking forward to it~

#Movie NEWS! New Amazing Spider-man pictures
And here's Spidey's turn with some new pics from Marc Webb's upcoming Amazing Spider-man movie reboot!
Prepared?
...
I mean, really?
Here:
Holy Sh....
My eyes!!! >___<
Okay, that's bad.
I mean, I'm sure the CGi will be spectacular, the action great, etc.
But design-wise? That's simply ugly!
I'm guessing they designed his face to look like the movie's Curt Connors. (the guy, pre-the Lizard, human)
Oh man.. I need something, quick, to clean my eyes...
Here, from the making of the movie:
Apparently, Spidey will have some web-slinging action incognito...?
Anyways, that was fun enough.
There.
All better!
And lemme put this picture of the classic Lizard here to prepare you for the shock..
First is an actual screen from the movie's version of the Lizard, as he's going to appear in the movie itself, not some toy, merchandising, etc.Prepared?

Marvel NEWS! AMAZING SPIDER-MAN Trailer
Up until now I had my doubts about this whole thing (I'd rather see Marvel have the rights to Spidey back)..
Don't mistake me, I still think the tone is overly serious and the visual waaaay to gritty for the web-crawler.
But this is looking a bit better now.
Wise-cracking Spidey? Hunted by cops? A Spectacular villain?
Check this out:
I'm still not a big fan of this whole movie's casting, but it looks like Mark Webb did a great job!
This will be on July 3rd.

Donald Glover stand up tour - "First Black Spiderman"
For those who actually have a life and didn't follow the whole thing on the internet, this above picture of Donald Glover as Spider-man has an history behind it.
Basically said, it was a sort of nerd-movement that sprang off some internet meme.
With the Spider-man franchise getting a reboot, people started joking with the whole "whole new direction"-thing Sony was throwing at the public, so someone suggest why not have Peter Parker black...then things got serious~
I actually like the idea of Donald as Spidey, even if random, at the worst it would be like an alternate and unique take on the character (like 2099 or Ultimate Spider-man) and at best, he might have been a funnier and much more fitting Peter than Tobey Maguire in Sam Raimi's films...
Anyway, here's a clip from Donald Glover's latest stand-up show, Weirdo. Where he explains it a bit better, from experience first hand:
From Donald's one hour stand up on Comedy Central.
So, would you have liked the idea of Donald Glover!Spider-man...?

Marvel NEWS! New Spider-man movie pictures
Here's a round-up of new pictures from the upcoming rebooted Amazing Spider-man movie relaunch.
Sony released a bunch of characters-wallpapers, alongside some descriptions, which might give us an idea of things will be heading for.
First up, here's the official summary:
Will we see Peter's secret agents parents? I hope not!!
And now, the main characters...
Peter Parker:
Gwen Stacy:
Captain Stacy:
Curt Connors:
I'm not really feeling any of this at the moment...
Sounds like such a mixed bag of bad directions and story elements...
So far, this movie promises us:
- A rebooted series, new elements (web-shooters, etc..)
- Spidey's origins again
- The Stacys (you can guess either one of them, or both!, will die in the movie)
- Connors/The Lizard
- Either the civilian identity or the costumed identity of an obscure character, the "Proto-Goblin" (seriously??)
- The untold story of Peter's parents
- Probably various story directions/moments to please today's teens (*cough*Twilight vibe of the movie, guess the rest*cough*)
..And I'm sure some more threads to either develop in the sequel or whatnot...
Remember when last time a movie tried to expose us in a 2 hours run as many threads as this? Yep, we ended up with a Spider-man 3!
Movies aren't either TV Shows or Comic books...they just can't sustain as many on-going stories THAT NEED to be resolved under such a short runtime!
From the sounds of all this I can already imagine this movie has 2-3 writers working on it...
sigh..
*will wait for the reboot of the reboot...*

First up, here's the official summary:
I dunno for you, but I'm not really feeling this untold story-vibe.. Mysterious "disappearance of his parents" and all... I know the comic explored these directions, but that's because it's a long running franchise who needed to go into various direction to stay alive, including such a filler one....Like most teenagers his age, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. In his journey to put the pieces of his past together he uncovers a secret that his father held… a secret that will ultimately shape his destiny as Spider-Man. This is the first in a series of movies that tells a different side of the Peter Parker story. On July 3rd, 2012, the untold story begins.
Will we see Peter's secret agents parents? I hope not!!
And now, the main characters...
Peter Parker:
Ever since Peter's parents disappeared at 13 years old, he has struggled to find his purpose in life. Now, on the bring of unlocking the mystery about what happened to them, he must face the ultimate challenge — one that has been created within the laboratories of Oscorp.
Gwen Stacy:
Smart, charismatic and rebellious, Gwen is the chief Intern at Oscorp, a position she takes very seriously. But her life takes a complicated turn as she watches both her boyfriend, Peter, and her mentor, Dr. Connors, undergo radical transformations.
Captain Stacy:
An esteemed police officer for over twenty years, Captain Stacy is the public face of the NYPD who leads the department's investigation into Spider-Man's vigilantism. The only thing Captain Stacy vows to protect more than the city is his family — particularly his only daughter, Gwen.
Curt Connors:
One of Oscorp's leading scientific minds. Dr. Connors attempts to engineer a revolutionary regeneration serum to help re-grow limbs and human tissue. His motivations are unclear as to why he elects to to be the first human test subject — but what becomes evident is that something goes horribly wrong.

Movie NEWS! Men In Black 3 trailer
After lots of rumors...and kinda disappearing from everyone's radar the Men In Black are finally back in MIB3!
Enjoy the trailer:
Looks like the series is still directed by Barry Sonnenfeld, which is a good thing.
(I'd fear a sequel in the hands of someone different altogether)
Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith, the music seems to be the same, all the ingredients are here.
But another story that has the duo separated? (he's lost in time/disappeared/nobody remembers him?) Couldn't we just have a movie about those two TOGETHER and kicking alien ass as a team? You know...what we were sort of promised at the end of the very first film?!
Also, not liking the time travel angle of this sequel... I mean, I love time travel stories, I really do, bud did MIB need time travel in the plot?
Anyways, this movie's looking great so far, and I'm strangely awaiting its release! :D

Movie NEWS! New comic-to-film posters!
Here's some all-new posters for two upcoming comic book movies.
First up, The Dark Knight Rises!
Well, from the looks of it, I'm expecting the movie to follow Knightfall pretty closely now...
Bane will break the Bat? "The Legend Ends", then below "The Dark Knight Rises"? Gotta take a pick, you gotta decide Hollywood people... Will Bats end or rise?
And is it only me or does it remind you guys of that famous Spider-man picture...
From the throwaway used super-costume to the walking away under the rain pose...only here it is the villain walking off and not the hero...foreshadowing plot points maybe?
Speaking of Spidey, here's the all-new poster for the rebooted franchise Amazing Spider-Man!
What do I have to say about this one?
Gee...how to start...
First up, when superhero movie posters start pouring in, it rains!
And why do both movies have such similar stylistically designed posters to begin with? Same graphic artist on both?
They both look so bland and boring... I can already imagine silly teenage kids saying "HEY! They look cool, I want BOTH of them on my bedroom's wall!! XD!!Lol1!!1!11"
Anyway, the Spider-man is really scr#wed up by its awful tagline... "The Untold Story"...of his origins? Again??
Cliché! Silly! Unnecessary!

Movie NEWS! first look at the movie's LIZARD
Remember The Amazing Spider-Man movie reboot due some time next year?
People have spotted what the villain, the Lizard, might look like in the upcoming film...on PEZ dispensers!
If it's the real deal...
Very retro!
Very Steve Ditko to be precise:
This means he will be more lizard-man than an actual "monster"-monster.
Unlike the more recent depictions we've seen of him since Todd McFarlane reimagined him:
Though some claims the following blurry peaks are true leaked pics of the real design of the Lizard in the movie, radically different from the above PEZ.
Rumors? Fakes?
Wait and see~

"Michael" PS3 ad
Here's an hilarious Playstation 3 ad video:
Looks almost like a big budget parody XD
For weeks, gamers, Sony fanboys and PS3 nerds were awaiting for their upcoming new announcement...only to found out about some cost decrease (which in the end doesn't matter much, as stores can either follow it or not, or even have already made themselves recent decreases anyway).
Anyway, enjoy this epic video who only makes me ask one possible question:
Who the F*** is Michael anyways??

Movie NEWS! Nicky's back!
Yeah, I'm catching up on what I missed, so what??
Anyway, this lil' "pearl" was released not long ago.
Yeah, they DARED make another one! (HOORAAAY!!)
It's the Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance!
Directed by Crank director this time, Brian Taylor.
Enjoy the epicness of the Rider~
Might be bad...and yet still pretty watchable as the first one :P
Awesome!
Nobody wanted another one (besides me) and I'm glad they've made another one.
The original Ghost Rider movies might had a pretty bad to modest reception but it still made plenty o' bucks to convince Sony to produce another one (and keep the IP this way).
It will be out on Feb. 17, 2012!

Movie NEWS! Spider-man trailer!
And here it is finally!
The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) trailer!
Beware though, it might leave you with a biased on opinion..
On one hand it's great to finally have the web shooters, see a High School student Peter Parker, have the Lizard has a villain...
On the other I'm having so much pain accepting this guy as Peter Parker/Spider-man...
I mean, Hipster/Twilight Spider-man? Waugh....
Anyway, here's the trailer for everyone to enjoy:
Mmmmh... Another reboot really? And if the movie bombs, for example, will Marvel get the rights back from Sony and re-reboot it in its movie Marvel U?
And is it only me or is this direction a tad bit too dark for Spidey?
And what's up with the Mirror's Edge scene? Hopefully only made for the teaser trailer...right? Not in the actual movie...right?? Right??

Movie NEWS! Spider-man pics leaked
The San Diego Comic Con is coming up soon.
And this year, with Green Lantern and Thor already screened, all the attention is now turning over Sony's reboot of the Spider-man series by director Marc Webb, The Amazing Spider-man.
Here's a bunch of leaked pics that were shared by superherohype.
Let's have a better look, if a bit blurry, of this new "Peter Parker" and costume.
Well, this Andrew Garfield comes up as sort of a douchey Peter Parker..
In a world of post-Scott Pilgrim, hipsters and cool things in the 2010s, I guess it will sell the film to the younger crowd...
I'm kind of warming up to the new suit. But I like variations of the Spider-suit, being a fan of the Mangaverse Spider-man, 2099, Spider-girl, etc..
Still, wished it looked less like a 2 bazillion dollars suit and more like a good cosplay. Something "man-made" rather than "studio-produced".
The eyes look cool though.
And, hey! webshooters!

Movie NEWS! first pic of Peter Parker rebooted
The first pic of the brand new Peter Parker from the Spider-man reboot just surfaced..and..
Oh man...really?
I was ready to accept the redesigned Ben Reilly-inspired costume but this hip/sk8ter Peter might be a too much. Aren't ya trying to sell Spidey to kids a bit too much in this reboot?
I guess the glasses are a nice touch, more so than everything Tobey Maguire ever was in the past 3 flicks, but a skate?
And no, this isn't "fanboy" rant like I've seen on some other places. It's just that they seem to be trying to much with this now and the redesigned costume. I mean, the guy looks old (for High School). And he goes to school on a skate? Wouldn't a bike work better for nerdy-Pete?
Anyways,
I had to post this now:
